Norwegian Movement For Vietnam
The Norwegian Movement for Vietnam ( no, Vietnambevegelsen i Norge) was a Norwegian advocacy group. Its purpose was to convey friendship and solidarity with "people of Indochina", opposing the Vietnam War. It was created in January 1968 as an offshoot of the Norwegian Solidarity Committee for Vietnam, which had been hijacked by the Socialist Youth League (SUF) to the dismay of the Workers' Youth League (Norway), Workers' Youth League. Eventually, the Movement for Vietnam was joined by Socialist Youth (Norway), Socialist Youth, the Young Communist League of Norway, Young Communist League as well as various trade unions and women's organizations. Indochina
Mainland Southeast Asia, also known as the Indochinese Peninsula or Indochina, is the continental portion of Southeast Asia. It lies east of the Indian subcontinent and south of Mainland China and is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. The Vietnam War (also known by #Names, other names) was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. It was the second of the Indochina Wars and was officially fought between North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The north was supported by the Soviet Union, China, and other communist states, while the south was United States in the Vietnam War, supported by the United States and other anti-communism, anti-communist Free World Military Forces, allies. The Workers' Youth League ( nb, Arbeidernes ungdomsfylking, nn, Arbeidarane si ungdomsfylking, or AUF) is Norway's largest political youth organization and is affiliated with the Norwegian Labour Party. Socialist Youth (Norwegian: ''Sosialistisk Ungdom'') is the youth league of the Socialist Left Party of Norway. The current head of the organisation is Synnøve Kronen Snyen. SU considers itself a revolutionary party consisting of Marxists and wants to gain popular support for socialism in Norway. In this respect it differs from SV, the mother party. SU organises some 850 members between the age of 13 and 30. They have regional branches in all 19 counties, and have around 60 local groups. At several universities and colleges SU also organises student groups. SU does well in school elections in urban areas, but has less support in rural regions and in the north of Norway. Young Communist League Of Norway
The Young Communist League of Norway ( no, Norges Kommunistiske Ungdomsforbund, NKU) was until April 2006 the youth league of Norges Kommunistiske Parti (NKP). The NKP declared on 1 April 2006 that the NKU was no longer its youth organization, and that all youths interested in joining the movement should contact the party directly. The NKU still persisted as an organization, however, and held a congress in the middle of May 2006, where it declared its wish to cooperate with the NKP, but also to continue on its own if necessary. At the same time the NKP organized a conference of their own, where they established a new youth organization for the party, with the same name and logo as the original NKU. Arne Kokkvoll
Arne Kokkvoll (1925 – 19 September 1998) was a Norwegians, Norwegian historian, librarian/archivist and politician for the Norwegian Labour Party, Labour Party. Biography He was born at Kokkvollen in Røros, and took the cand.philol. degree in 1957. His master's thesis was about Johannes Nesse, and it was published later as a book. Kokkvoll worked as a teacher and was a research assistant at the Norwegian Institute of Local History before being hired as director of the Labour Movement Archive and Library. He held this post until 1987, and was also acting docent at the University of Trondheim from 1976 to 1978. He was later the director of Olavsgruva Museum in Røros. He was also a leader of the Norwegian Movement for Vietnam from 1969 to 1972, and he led ''Oslo Arbeidersamfunn'' from 1966 to 1967. Tove Pihl
Tove Agnethe Pihl (21 December 1924 – 20 January 1987) was a Norwegian educator and politician for the Labour Party. She was born in Kristiania as the daughter of professor in medicine Otto Lous Mohr and the noted activist Tove Mohr. Her maternal grandmother was Katti Anker Møller. Tove Pihl graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Rochester in 1948, and with a Master of Arts degree in pedagogy from the University of Chicago in 1949. She then worked as a school teacher and rector in Oslo, and was a member of the city school board from 1956. She was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo in 1969, but was not re-elected in 1973. During her term, she was a member of the Standing Committee of Justice. Jostein Nyhamar (23 September 1922 – 30 July 1993) was a Norwegian magazine editor, biographer and politician for the Labour Party. Jostein Nyhamar was born in Nedre Eiker. He edited the weekly magazine ''Aktuell'' from 1959 to 1974, and '' Forbrukerrapporten'' from 1974 to 1986. He has written a biography of Einar Gerhardsen as well as volume six of the series ''Arbeiderbevegelsens historie i Norge'', which covers the history of the Norwegian labour movement from 1965 to 1990. He also chaired Bærum Labour Party. He died on 30 July 1993 in Bærum.
