Northside College Preparatory High School
Northside College Preparatory High School (commonly referred to as Northside College Prep, Northside Prep, NCP, or simply Northside) is a public 4-year selective enrollment high school located in the North Park neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Founded in 1999, it was the first new CPS high school to be built in 20 years. It is a selective enrollment school, and teaches only at the Honors and AP levels (excluding the P.E. department). Northside has earned a reputation for academic excellence, and has been consistently ranked as the #1 high school in Illinois by ''U.S. News & World Report''. Tasha Viets-VanLear, better known as just Tasha, is an American musician from Chicago. Early life Tasha was born and raised in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago. Tasha grew up involved in theater and poetry. Tasha attended Northside College Preparatory High School as well as St. Olaf College. After moving back to Chicago after college, Tasha worked for Black Youth Project 100. Career Tasha released her first EP in 2016 titled ''Divine Love''. The EP is described as being about both "political activism and self-love". In 2018, Tasha announced plans to release her debut full-length album, and shared the new song "Kind of Love". Tasha also shared a new song titled "New Place" prior to releasing the record. Eve Louise Ewing (born 1986) is an American sociologist, author, poet, and visual artist from Chicago, Illinois. Ewing is a tenured professor at the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. Her academic research in the sociology of education includes her 2018 book, ''Ghosts in the Schoolyard: Racism and School Closings on Chicago’s South Side'', a study of school closures in Chicago. Miss Alex White is the stage name for Alexandra Brooks White, an American musician from Chicago, Illinois, United States, and founder of Missile X Records born April 30, 1985. Softball is a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Softball is played competitively at club levels, the college level, and the professional level. The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) is an association that regulates competition of interscholastic sports and some interscholastic activities at the high school level for the state of Illinois. It is a charter member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The Chicago Public High School Athletic Association, commonly known as the Chicago Public League (CPL), is the interscholastic competition arm of the Chicago Public Schools. The governance of the CPL is set through the Department of Sports Administration and Facilities of CPS. The Interactive Mathematics Program (IMP) is a four-year, problem-based mathematics curriculum for high schools. It was one of several curricula funded by the National Science Foundation and designed around the 1989 National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, standards.
