Northern Kings
Northern Kings is a Finnish symphonic metal cover band, cover supergroup, made up of four well known musicians: Jarkko Ahola from Teräsbetoni, ex-Dreamtale, Marko Hietala from Tarot (band), Tarot, ex-Nightwish, Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto from Charon (band), Charon and Harmaja (band), Harmaja. Their first single, "We Don't Need Another Hero" (originally performed by Tina Turner), was released in 2007, followed by their debut album ''Reborn (Northern Kings album), Reborn''. In late 2008, their second album ''Rethroned'' was released, headlined by the single "Kiss from a Rose" (originally performed by Seal (musician), Seal). They last released a single "Lapponia (song), Lapponia" in 2010. On 18 June 2022, Northern Kings made a comeback after being on hiatus for 12 years. Symphonic Metal
Symphonic metal is a cross-generic style designation for the symphonic subsets of heavy metal music subgenres. It is used to denote any metal band that makes use of symphonic or orchestral elements. The style features the heavy drums and guitars of metal with different elements of orchestral classical music, such as symphonic instruments, choirs and sometimes a full orchestra, or just keyboard orchestration. Symphonic metal bands can feature classically trained vocalists, in which case they can be attributed nicknames such as opera metal or operatic metal. Perhaps the most pioneering and prominent examples of symphonic metal bands are Swedish band Therion, Finnish band Nightwish, Italian band Rhapsody of Fire and Dutch bands Within Temptation, The Gathering and Epica. Finland was represented by Monica Aspelund, with the song "Lapponia", at the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 7 May in London. Before Eurovision National final The Finnish final was held on February 22nd at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki. It was hosted by Tutteli Mensonen. The winner was chosen by regional juries. Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel (born 19 February 1963), known professionally as Seal, is a British singer. He has sold over 20 million records worldwide. "Kiss from a Rose" is a song from Seal's second eponymous album. The song was first released as a single in July 1994 and included in the film ''The NeverEnding Story III'' that year. It was re-released a year later in 1995 as part of the ''Batman Forever'' film soundtrack, helping it top the charts in the United States and Australia. It also reached the top 10 in several other countries, including Canada, France, Iceland and Norway. At the 1996 Grammy Awards, it won awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Rethroned
''Rethroned'' is the second studio album by Finnish symphonic metal band Northern Kings. It was released on November 19, 2008, as a CD in Finland and to download via the European iTunes Store. Upon release, the album entered the Finnish charts at number 16. The album was released in Japan on February 25, 2009, with the Michael Jackson cover "They Don't Care About Us" as a bonus track. The iTunes edition included also the orchestral version of "They Don't Care About Us". The first single and music video released off this album was the Seal cover "Kiss from a Rose" (originally from the soundtrack of the film ''Batman Forever''). The album also includes two other movie-based tracks: "Training Montage" (from ''Rocky IV'') and "A View to a Kill" (from the 1985 James Bond 007 film of the same title).
