Northern Hurricanes
The North Sea Pro Series was a professional cricket league featuring teams from the Netherlands and Scotland, first contested in 2014. A joint venture between the Royal Dutch Cricket Board (KNCB) and Cricket Scotland, the Pro Series comprised a 50-over tournament, the North Sea Pro 50, and a 20-over tournament, the North Sea Pro 20. The first fully professional league in either country, the competition had been described as "formulated to bridge the gap between club and international cricket for professional cricketers". The inaugural season featured four franchises, two from the Netherlands and two from Scotland, and both the 50-over and 20-over tournaments were won by the Highlanders, a Scottish franchise. In 2016, the North Sea 50 Trophy was held on 1 September as a final match between the Dutch 50 over champions the South Holland Seafarers and the Scottish 50 over champions Eastern Knights. Cricket Scotland
Cricket Scotland, formerly known as the Scottish Cricket Union, is the Sport governing body, governing body of the sport of cricket in Scotland. The body is based at the National Cricket Academy, Edinburgh. The SCU was formed in 1908, but underwent a major restructuring in 2001 including a name change. It became an International Cricket Council member in 1994 as an Associate nation. It has three sub-associations: East of Scotland Cricket Association, Western District Cricket Union and the Aberdeenshire Cricket Association. Brian Adair served as president (1983) and chairman (1986). Following a review into racism at Cricket Scotland the entire board resigned on 24 July 2022. One Day International
A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition. The international one day game is a late-twentieth-century development. The first ODI was played on 5 January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Deventer
Deventer (; Sallands: ) is a city and municipality in the Salland historical region of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2020, Deventer had a population of 100,913. The city is largely situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, but it also has a small part of its territory on the west bank. In 2005 the municipality of Bathmen (with a population of about 5,000 people) was merged with Deventer as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country. Sportpark Het Schootsveld
Sportpark Het Schootsveld (Salland Cricket Club Ground) is a cricket ground in Deventer, the Netherlands. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1975 when Dansk XL Club played The Forty Club. The ground later held four ICC Trophy matches in the 1990. The ground held its first List A match in 1999 when the Netherlands played Cambridgeshire in the NatWest Trophy. Two further List A matches have been played there, both in the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40 when the Netherlands played Middlesex and Derbyshire. The ground held its first first-class match in 2004 when the Netherlands hosted Ireland in the ICC Intercontinental Cup. Two further first-class matches have been held there, one in the 2009–10 Intercontinental Cup when Scotland were the visitors, and another in the 2011–13 Intercontinental Cup which saw Kenya as the visitors. Toby Bailey (cricketer)
Tobin Michael Barnaby Bailey (born 28 August 1976) is a former English cricketer who played for Northamptonshire between 1996 and 2004. He was a wicket-keeper. Cricket career For most of his early career with Northamptonshire, Bailey was the understudy to the long-serving wicket-keeper David Ripley. When Ripley retired in 2001, Bailey took over for three years until Gerard Brophy arrived in 2004 and took his place because of his superior batting. Bailey was released at the end of that season. During his time at Northants, he was involved in a bust-up with team-mate Russell Warren, after Warren started dating Bailey's fiancée. Craig Wallace (cricketer)
Craig Donald Wallace (born 27 June 1990) is a Scottish cricketer. Wallace is a right-handed batsman who fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Dundee and was educated at the High School of Dundee. Wallace made his debut for Scotland in a List A match against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl in the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40. Scotland toured Namibia in September 2011, despite not featuring in Scotland's first-class Intercontinental Cup match against Namibia, he did feature in the two List A matches which proceeded that match. Dumfries
Dumfries ( ; sco, Dumfries; from gd, Dùn Phris ) is a market town and former royal burgh within the Dumfries and Galloway council area of Scotland. It is located near the mouth of the River Nith into the Solway Firth about by road from the Anglo-Scottish border and just away from Cumbria by air. Titwood
Titwood is a cricket ground in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is the home of the Clydesdale Cricket Club and is one of four international grounds in Scotland approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a home venue for the Scotland national cricket team. Titwood was approved by the ICC in May 2007 for the hosting of One-Day International (ODI) matches. It became the fourth Scottish ground to be granted ODI status, as it was seen as a hub of cricket in Scotland, along with the Grange, Aberdeenshire's Mannofield and Ayr's New Cambusdoon. Topklasse (cricket)
The Topklasse (known until 2010 as the Hoofdklasse) is the highest domestic 50-over cricket competition in the Netherlands. Until 2016 the league featured 8 teams playing in a double round-robin format, followed by relegation and championship play-offs. From 2017 the league reverted to a simple ten-team double round-robin format. The dominant club in terms of league titles has been HCC (Hague Cricket Club). The Scottish National Cricket League was formed for the 1999 season after a conference season in 1998. Clubs from the four main district leagues and the Scottish Counties Championship formed the league.
