Northern Film School
The Northern Film School is part of the Leeds Beckett University Leeds School of Arts. It is one of the largest full-time film schools in the UK, with both bachelor's and master's degrees, and is situated in the city centre of Leeds. School was established in 1970 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England History As far back as the late sixties, the nationally recognised Leeds Polytechnic Film Unit played a part in launching the careers of several luminaries of the British Film Industry. Leeds
Leeds () is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Leeds district in West Yorkshire, England. It is built around the River Aire and is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. It is also the third-largest settlement (by population) in England, after London and Birmingham. The city was a small manorial borough in the 13th century and a market town in the 16th century. Fabian Wagner
Fabian Wagner (born 25 April 1978) is a German cinematographer. His roles in the production of the television shows '' Sherlock'' and ''Game of Thrones'' have earned him two Creative Arts Emmy Award nominations. In 2017, he won the American Society of Cinematographers Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Regular Series for his work on the ''Game of Thrones'' episode "Battle of the Bastards". Officer Of The Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. Alby James OBE FRSA (born 24 May 1954) is a British theatre director and a producer for film and television drama, screenwriter, script consultant and trainer, whose career spans more than four decades. Mini DV
DV refers to a family of codecs and tape formats used for storing digital video, launched in 1995 by a consortium of video camera manufacturers led by Sony and Panasonic. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, DV was strongly associated with the transition from analog to digital desktop video production, and also with several enduring " prosumer" camera designs such as the Sony VX-1000. Millennium Square (Leeds)
Millennium Square is a city square in the Civic Quarter of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was Leeds's flagship project to mark the year 2000, and was jointly funded by Leeds City Council and the Millennium Commission. Total cost of production was £12 million. Leeds International Film Festival
The Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) is the largest film festival in England outside London. Founded in 1987, it is held in November at various venues throughout Leeds, West Yorkshire. In 2015, the festival welcomed over 40,000 visitors and showed over 300 films from around the world, shorts and features, both commercial and independent. LIFF features five programme sections: Official Selection, Retrospective, Cinema Versa, Fanomenon and Short Film City. Mohamed Al-Daradji
Mohamed Al-Darraji (born 6 August 1978 in Baghdad, Iraq) is an Iraqi Dutch, Iraqi-Dutch film director. He studied theater in Iraq, and cinematography and directing in England. He is known for his drama films, which focus on political affairs in the Middle East and their effects on interpersonal relationships. Personal life Al-Daradji was born and raised in Iraq. His aunt had lost a son in the Iran–Iraq War, and he cites her grief as a motivation for his films, which address both the terrible suffering and the hopefulness for the future felt by many Iraqis.
