Northeast 8 Athletic Conference
The Northeast 8 Athletic Conference (NE8) is an OHSAA athletic league that began competition for the 2018-19 school year. It is primarily made up of members that were part of the All-American Conference along with previously independent South Range. Members History The idea for the NE8 was created in May 2017 when members of the All-American Conference's Blue and White divisions decided to break away and form their own league. South Range had previously been set to join the newly-created Eastern Buckeye Conference in 2018, but then received an invitation to join the AAC Blue tier with Crestview High School at the same time they were invited to join the NE8. With three league invitations, South Range decided to help form the Northeast 8. The first NE8 Cross Country Championships were held at Niles Stephens Park on October 10, 2018. Ohio High School Athletic Association
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio. The OHSAA governs eligibility of student athletes, resolves disputes, organizes levels of competition by divisional separation of schools according to attendance population, and conducts state championship competitions in all the OHSAA-sanctioned sports. Membership There are approximately 820 member high schools and 850 more schools in the 7th-8th grade division of the OHSAA. Most public and private high schools in Ohio belong to the OHSAA. Poland Seminary High School
Poland Seminary High School is a public high school in Poland, Ohio, United States. It is the only secondary school in the Poland Local School District. Athletic teams compete as the Poland Seminary Bulldogs in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Northeast 8 Conference History Although the current building was built in 1972, Poland Seminary High School owes its name to an earlier institution, Poland Seminary, which was one of the first private colleges to admit women. In the early 1900s, the institution was deeded to The Poland Schools for $1.00 with the stipulation that it forever be called "Poland Seminary". This former institution matriculated US President William McKinley, and the present high school claims McKinley as an alumnus. It is the only high school in the Crestview Local School District, and serves nearby New Waterford as well as parts of surrounding Fairfield and Unity townships. Eastern Buckeye Conference
The Eastern Buckeye Conference is an OHSAA athletic league that began competition in the 2018–19 school year. The following are members: Members League history The idea for the Eastern Buckeye Conference began in December 2015 when seven of the eight Northeastern Buckeye Conference members (Alliance, Canton South, Carrollton, Marlington, Minverva, Salem, and West Branch) came together to discuss creating a new league that didn't include Louisville. Three other schools were also included in the discussions: South Range, Crestview, and Beaver Local. On February 4, 2016, the Northeastern Buckeye Conference voted to disband, and all conference members except for Louisville agreed to form a new league. Struthers, Ohio
Struthers is a city in eastern Mahoning County, Ohio, United States, along the Mahoning River. The population was 10,063 at the 2020 census. Located directly southeast of Youngstown, it is a suburb of the Youngstown–Warren metropolitan area. History John Struthers, from Washington County, Pennsylvania, purchased of Poland Township land in 1798 and gave it the name Marbletown. John Struthers owned this land until the War of 1812 came around when he and his family suffered financial ruin. The land was dormant until 1865 when it was purchased by Thomas Struthers. Poland is a village in eastern Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. A suburb about southeast of Youngstown, the population was 2,463 at the 2020 census.
