North Union Community School District
North Union Community School District is a rural public school district headquartered in Armstrong, Iowa. It covers portions of Emmet, Kossuth and Palo Alto counties, and serves Armstrong, Fenton, Lone Rock and Ringsted. It operates North Union Elementary School and North Union High School, while it has a grade sharing arrangement with North Kossuth Community School District in Swea City for its middle school. the district has about 400 students. History It was established on July 1, 2014, by the merger of the Armstrong–Ringsted Community School District and the Sentral Community School District. The merger passed in a June 2013 election in the Armstrong-Ringsted district by 291-42 and in Sentral by 78–18, and the approval was through a total of 86% of voters in both school districts. Armstrong, Iowa
Armstrong is a city in Emmet County, Iowa, United States. The population was 875 at the 2020 census. It was originally known as Armstrong Grove. History Armstrong got its start in 1892, after the construction of the railroad through that territory. It was named after Thomas Armstrong, who first arrived in the area near the West Fork Des Moines River to trap. He spent only one winter, as it was too harsh for him. In 1892 the first locomotive arrived in Armstrong and a year later the town of Armstrong was incorporated. In February 2021, Armstrong's mayor, Gregory Wayne Buum; police chief, Craig Juan Merrill; city clerk, Tracie Lang; and former city clerk Connie Marie Thackery were charged with 21 felony and misdemeanor counts, including fraud, misappropriation of funds, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Sentral Community School District
Sentral Community School District was a school district headquartered in Fenton, Iowa. It served the communities of Fenton, Lone Rock and Seneca. The spelling "Sentral" was deliberately adopted to be a reference to "Seneca" and to differentiate itself from various other school systems using the word "Central". As of 2004 the district had around 300 students. Their mascot was known as the "Spartans" and before that the "Satellites".History

Initially the district had separate K-12 schools in Fenton, Lone Rock and Seneca. The Satellite mascot for the consolidated secondary school was chosen in 1957 and the school itself first opened on land between Fenton and Lone Rock in 1959.

Estherville is a city in Emmet County, Iowa, United States. The population was 5,904 in the 2020 census, a decline from 6,656 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Emmet County. History Emmet County was initially created by an act of the Iowa Legislature in 1851. The area that is now Estherville witnessed the arrival of its first settlers around 1856 and into 1857. In 1859 the city was selected as the county seat and was eventually incorporated in 1881. Estherville was named after Esther A. Ridley, one of the first white female settlers in the area. Many of Estherville's current residents are the descendants of the original Scandinavian, German and Irish immigrants that arrived in the community in the 1870's.
