North Kenton
North Kenton is a suburban housing estate in the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, in Tyne and Wear, England, located north west of the city centre and to the east of Kingston Park. North Kenton is a well known area of Newcastle, it is known to have a strong a community spirit. Once a month the local tenants and residents group known as North Kenton Tenants and Residents Association, the group work all year round to create community events for the whole community. In August every year they plan the annual Family Fun Day with help funding from local business and Newcastle City Council. In 2016 North Kenton Tenants and Residents Association launched their website The area includes a refurbished park, and a sports centre. Newcastle upon Tyne ( RP: , ), or simply Newcastle, is a city and metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear, England. Tyne And Wear
Tyne and Wear () is a metropolitan county in North East England, situated around the mouths of the rivers Tyne and Wear. It was created in 1974, by the Local Government Act 1972, along with five metropolitan boroughs of Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside. It is bordered by Northumberland to the north and Durham to the south; the county boundary was formerly split between these counties with the border as the River Tyne. Kingston Park is a suburb of Newcastle upon Tyne, about north west of the city centre. It is home to several large retailers, the largest being one of Tesco's flagship stores—at 11,055 square metres (119,000 sq ft) which was also the largest supermarket in the United Kingdom for one period of time. Newcastle General Hospital
Newcastle General Hospital (NGH) was for many years the main hospital for the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and is managed by Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Accident and Emergency Department and Intensive Care closed on 16 November 2010. A walk-in centre for minor ailments and injuries remained on the site. History The hospital was originally constructed as the infirmary for the Newcastle Union Workhouse. Building began in 1868 and it opened in 1870. In 1921 the administration of the hospital was separated from the Workhouse and the name was changed to the Wingrove Hospital.
