North Kansas City
North Kansas City is a city in Clay County, Missouri, United States. It is also enclaved in Kansas City. Even though the name is similar to its larger counterpart, Kansas City, it is an independent municipality part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The population was 4,467 at the 2020 census. Originally a northern suburb across the Missouri River from Kansas City, it is now almost completely surrounded by Kansas City, which has annexed far to the north of North Kansas City's northern city limits. North Kansas City also adjoins the small municipality of Avondale. Geography North Kansas City is located at (39.139007, -94.570518). Chouteau Bridge
The Chouteau Bridge a four-lane girder bridge on Route 269 across the Missouri River between Jackson County, Missouri, and Clay County, Missouri. The bridge is named for Francois Chouteau, who was a member of the Chouteau fur trapping family and is considered the first permanent settler in Kansas City. There have been two bridges that have carried the name Chouteau Bridge. The first bridge was a three-span Whipple truss bridge, built in 1887, and was the second bridge over the Missouri River in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. In the beginning it was a railroad bridge built and used by The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, or also known as the Milwaukee Road. Upon the completion and opening of the Harry S. Heart Of America Bridge
The Heart of America Bridge is a vehicular girder bridge over the Missouri River, in Kansas City, Missouri. It carries Route 9. It was the vehicular replacement for the upper level of the ASB Bridge, and runs next to it a few hundred yards downstream. It was opened in 1987. Buck O'Neil Bridge
The Buck O'Neil Bridge is a triple arch bridge that spans the Missouri River in Kansas City, Missouri, in the United States. It first opened for traffic September 9, 1956 as the Broadway Bridge. It was built at a cost of $12 million. It was a toll bridge until 1991. It replaced the Second Hannibal Bridge just to its east which had handled auto traffic on its upper level. It provides access from downtown Kansas City to the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport and to the city of Riverside, Missouri. U.S. Route 169, which the bridge carries across the river, never enters North Kansas City, Missouri, but skirts the western border. On June 24, 2016 the Bridge was officially renamed from the Broadway Bridge to the Buck O'Neil Bridge named after the Kansas City Monarchs player and manager John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil. Route 283 was a short highway in the Kansas City, Missouri regional area. Its northern terminus was at Interstate 29 (I-29) and U.S. Route 71 (US 71) in Kansas City; its southern terminus was at Route 9 at the northern city limit of North Kansas City. It was known locally as North Oak Trafficway. Route description Route 283 began at a fork from Route 9 northbound (Burlington Avenue) in North Kansas City. The two routes forked away from one another, with Route 283, the North Oak Trafficway, crossing Northwest 32nd Avenue as a four-lane divided highway. North of Northwest 32nd, Route 283's four lanes came back together and bent northward over a creek as it entered Water Works Park along the southbound side. Missouri Route 269 is a highway in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Its total length is a short , which is also entirely named Chouteau Trafficway as a segment of that much longer trafficway. The highway's northern terminus is at Interstate 35 (I-35) and its southern terminus is at Front Streetboth in Kansas City, Missouri. The middle of the route includes an interchange with Route 210 in the small city of North Kansas City, Missouri. Chouteau Trafficway is very narrow for its amount of traffic, so in mid-2011, all buildings on Chouteau Trafficway between NE Parvin Road and NE Winn Road were taken by eminent domain and razed to widen Route 269 into a four-lane boulevard. Missouri Route 210
Route 210 is a highway in western Missouri with an eastern terminus at Route 10 southwest of Richmond and a western terminus at Interstate 29, 35, and U.S. Route 71. After I-29 and 35, 210 immediately intersects Route 1 and continues east. It intersects Walker Road in front of NKC Hospital and the Cerner world headquarters before an interchange with Chouteau Trafficway. It becomes a limited access freeway as it exits North Kansas City and into Kansas City proper. There are interchanges with North Brighton Avenue and Northeast Searcy Creek Parkway before it intersects I-435. Here, it reverts to a four-lane road with stoplights. Route 9 is a highway in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Its northern terminus is at Interstate 29/U.S. Route 71 in Kansas City North; its southern terminus is at Interstate 35/Interstate 70/U.S. Route 24/ U.S. Route 40 in downtown Kansas City. Even though both termini are in Kansas City, it passes through other towns and cities.
