Vermejo River
Vermejo River is a tributary of the Canadian River in Colfax County, New Mexico. The river flows southeast from the confluence of North Fork Vermejo River and Little Vermejo Creek to a confluence with the Canadian River south of Maxwell. The upper course of the Vermejo flows through Vermejo Park Ranch, one of the largest ranches in the U.S. and now devoted primarily to recreation such as fishing and hunting. Colfax County is a county in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,750. Its county seat is Raton. It is south from the Colorado state line. This county was named for Schuyler Colfax (18231885), seventeenth Vice President of the United States under U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant.
