Album insight Only (200) copies of ''North Dakota'' were produced, and while it remains an unreleased studio album, "Heart of Mine" was included on ''Empty Houses are Lonely'', "Grafton, ND" was later reworked and released on ''What I Mean To Say Is Goodbye'', and "The Horses Will Not Ride, The Gospel Won't Be Spoken" and "Fit To Be Tied" were later rewritten and re-recorded and included on ''North Dakota Impressions'' (2016). Tom Brosseau
Thomas Anderson Brosseau is an American musical storyteller and guitarist, born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States. He was awarded Key to the City of Grand Forks by mayor Michael R. Brown in 2007, in part due to his original album of music, ''Grand Forks'', which was dedicated to the people along the Red River of the North who lived through the 1997 Red River flood. Early life Brosseau learned to play acoustic guitar from his grandmother. As Brosseau explains: "I grew up with music in the church, in the school, music at home. I learned a lot of hymnal and folk songs, both traditional and contemporary, and since I was influenced by what my grandparents listened to, in a sense I studied the singers and songwriters of the Great American Songbook.” Career Brosseau moved to Los Angeles in 2003, and began performing at the renowned club Largo, where he met Sara and Sean Watkins. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Gregory Page (born April 28, 1963) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Biography Page is the son of a traveling Armenian pop singer whom he would not meet for over 40 years. His Irish mother was the lead singer/saxophone player in one of Britain's first all-girl groups, The Beat-Chics, that toured with The Beatles. Born in North London, England, he was a shy boy, fond of books and pictures, a solitary rambler in the woods and fields around his country home in England. At age fourteen he went to America, and for the next 5 years he wrote poetry and learned to play the guitar. During this time he got to know music intimately. James Taylor and Paul Simon were his great loves, but he admired Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake and other sentimental musicians who wrote about the sufferings of the poor and abandoned. ''Late Night at Largo'' is a live album by Tom Brosseau. The album was produced by Mark Flanagan and engineered by Scott Fritz at Largo in Los Angeles, California. Album insight There was no audience present during the recording of ''Late Night at Largo'', as it was recorded after the nightclub's open hours. "How To Grow A Woman From The Ground", "Maryanne", "Lonesome Valley", and "Fragile Mind" were later included on Brosseau's FatCat Records debut, '' Empty Houses Are Lonely''. Packaging Stumptown Printers of Portland, Oregon created custom packaging for ''Late Night at Largo'', which features a 6-panel recycled cardboard Compact Disc holder, liner notes printed on recycled paper, complete with a watermark, and soy-based ink. This album was released independently on Compact Disc only. ''Empty Houses are Lonely'' is a 2006 compilation album by Tom Brosseau. Album insight ''Empty Houses are Lonely'' is composed of songs recorded from 2001-2003, including songs from '' North Dakota'', an unreleased five song album called ''Five Song Demo'', which received much attention on KCRW and lead to Brosseau's performance on Morning Becomes Eclectic with Nic Harcourt in 2003, and ''Late Night at Largo'', as well as previously unreleased songs.
