Norrlands Artilleriregemente
The Norrland Artillery Regiment ( sv, Norrlands artilleriregemente), designation A 4, was a Swedish Army artillery regiment that traced its origins back to the 19th century. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the provinces of Norrland. The regiment was disbanded in 1997. From 1998 to 2000, the Boden Artillery Regiment was known by this name. History The regiment was created in 1893 by splitting off two batteries from 1st Svea Artillery Regiment and two batteries from 1st Göta Artillery Regiment which formed six batteries of Norrland Artillery Regiment. The regiment was garrisoned in Östersund but a detachment in Boden was created in 1910, this detachment was split off in 1928 and created Norrbotten Artillery Corps. The regiment's designation was A 4 (4th Artillery Regiment). Norrland Artillery Regiment was disbanded in 1997. Boden Municipality
Boden Municipality (Swedish: ''Bodens kommun'') is a municipality in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. Its seat is located in Boden. In 1919 the evolving garrison town of Boden was detached from Överluleå and instituted as a city municipality of its own. In 1967 the rest of Överluleå was merged into the city together with a part of Råneå. In 1971 Edefors (which in 1892 also had been detached from Överluleå) was added and the present municipality was formed. History According to recent finds, the oldest human settlements are believed to be from around 5,000 BC. From this early time nothing is known (except some scarce finds). First accounted-for sources are from the 16th century, when Boden is referred to as ''Bodebyn'' or ''Bodarna'', which may refer to the sheds (''bod'' means "shed"). Artillery is a class of heavy military ranged weapons that launch munitions far beyond the range and power of infantry firearms. Östersund Garrison
Östersund (; sma, Staare) is an urban area (city) in Jämtland in the middle of Sweden. It is the seat of Östersund Municipality and the capital of Jämtland County. Östersund is located at the shores of Sweden's fifth-largest lake, Storsjön, opposite the island Frösön. It is the only city in Jämtland. The northern part of the urban area is located inside of the municipality of Krokom. Östersund is the region's cultural and economical centre and by tradition a city of trade and commerce. Colonel Stig Oscarsson Lindstr̦m (9 September 1904 Р15 December 1975) was a Swedish Army officer and fencer. Early life Lindstr̦m was born on 9 September 1904 in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Lindstr̦m and his wife Enny Markstedt. Career Military career Lindstr̦m was commissioned as an officer in 1924 and was assigned as a second lieutenant to Svea Artillery Regiment. He attended the Higher Course of the Artillery and Engineering College from 1928 to 1930 and became Captain of the Artillery Staff in 1936. Lindstr̦m was appointed Major in Boden Artillery Regiment in 1942 and in the General Staff Corps in 1944. He then served as chief of staff in the Artillery Inspectorate (''Artilleriinspektionen'') from 1944 to 1946 when he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Lieutenant General Carl Nils Gabriel Ã…rmann (24 August 1894 – 21 April 1988) was a Swedish Army officer and modern pentathlete. He competed at the 1924 Summer Olympics and finished tenth. Artillery Regiment (2000)
The Artillery Regiment ( sv, Artilleriregementet, A 9) was an artillery regiment of the Swedish Army based in Boden Garrison in Boden, Sweden. The regiment was formed as the Artillery Regiment by bringing together all the artillery regiments of the Swedish Army, and it took its designation A 9 from the Bergslagen Artillery Regiment. The regiment carried the battle honours of all past Swedish artillery regiments. Its new organisation was founded in 2000 in Kristinehamn and in 2005 the regiment was moved to Boden. Due to the re-raising of Bergslagen Artillery Regiment (A 9) in 2022, the Artillery Regiment was renamed Boden Artillery Regiment and took the designation A 8 from the old Boden Artillery Regiment which was active from 1906 to 1997.
