Norman Teague
Norman Teague (born 1968) is an American social practice artist, designer, furniture maker, and educator. Teague co-founded the Chicago-based design studio, ''blkHaUs Studios'', and in 2019 went on to form his own ''Norman Teague Design Studios''. In addition to his studio practices Teague currently resides as a professor in the school of industrial design at University of Illinois Chicago. Early life and education Teague grew up on the South Side of Chicago in Bronzeville, and he is African American. Originally interested in pursuing a career in architecture, Teague attended Harold Washington College. He went to further his studies at Columbia College Chicago, but after exposure to wood shop and smaller scale design he pivoted his focus to industrial Design. Chicago Architecture Biennial
The Chicago Architecture Biennial is an international exhibition of architectural ideas, projects and displays. It seeks "to provide a platform for groundbreaking architectural projects and spatial experiments that demonstrate how creativity and innovation can radically transform our lived experience." Founded in 2014, the biennial is managed by a charitable corporation under the auspices of the city's Cultural Affairs department, and sponsored by public and private organizations and individuals. Expositions The first of its kind in North America, the inaugural iteration of the biennale took place in Chicago between October, 2015 and January, 2016, and was headquartered at the Chicago Cultural Center. Barack Obama Presidential Center
The Barack Obama Presidential Center is a planned architectural project in Chicago to commemorate the presidency of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States. The center will include a museum and library and is headed by the nonprofit Obama Foundation. The center's work includes digitizing the Barack Obama Presidential Library with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), to create the first fully digitized presidential library. The Library is administered by NARA, which will preserve hardcopies of documents at a separate NARA facility; however, many will be loaned to the Presidential Center for display. The center will be located in Jackson Park on the South Side of Chicago, adjacent to the University of Chicago campus. The university provides planning, support, engagement and programming.
