Norfolk Coast Express
The ''Norfolk Coast Express'' was a named passenger train operating in the United Kingdom. History The train was introduced for the summer season in 1907 by the Great Eastern Railway. It was timed to leave London Liverpool Street at 1:30pm, and arrive in Cromer at 4:25pm, Sheringham at 4:43pm, and Mundesley at 4:34pm. The returning service departed Sheringham at 12:36pm, Mundesley at 12:47pm, Cromer at 1:00pm, arriving in London Liverpool Street at 3:55pm. It was scheduled to run non-stop between Liverpool St. and North Walsham in both directions, utilising the water troughs at Ipswich. It was the first, and until 1950, the only express to run non stop along the GEML. For this new service the Great Eastern Railway provided new locomotives and rolling stock. The length of the train was with a trailing weight of 317 tons. It provided accommodation for 96 first class, and 320 third class passengers. Great Eastern Railway
The Great Eastern Railway (GER) was a pre-grouping British railway company, whose main line linked London Liverpool Street to Norwich and which had other lines through East Anglia. The company was grouped into the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923. Formed in 1862 after the amalgamation of the Eastern Counties Railway and several other smaller railway companies the GER served Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, Great Yarmouth, Ipswich, King's Lynn, Lowestoft, Norwich, Southend-on-Sea (opened by the GER in 1889), and East Anglian seaside resorts such as Hunstanton (whose prosperity was largely a result of the GER's line being built) and Cromer. London Liverpool Street Railway Station
Liverpool Street station, also known as London Liverpool Street, is a central London railway terminus and connected London Underground station in the north-eastern corner of the City of London, in the ward of Bishopsgate Without. It is the terminus of the West Anglia Main Line to Cambridge, the Great Eastern Main Line to Norwich, commuter trains serving east London and destinations in the East of England, and the Stansted Express service to Stansted Airport. Cromer Railway Station
Cromer is a railway station in the English county of Norfolk. Because the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway (M&GNJR) line approached Cromer from the west, following the coastal clifftops, it avoided the steep escarpment which had prevented the earlier line from Norwich running all the way into the town. Consequently, it became possible to build a far more conveniently located station, near to the town centre and the beach. The station opened as Cromer Beach on 16 June 1887 and was renamed Cromer on 20 October 1969, following the closure of Cromer High station in 1954. It is down the line from . Sheringham Railway Station
Sheringham railway station is the northern terminus of the Bittern Line in Norfolk, England, serving the town of Sheringham. It is down the line from (including the reversal at ). Its three-letter station code is SHM. It was opened by British Rail on 2 January 1967 replacing the original station in Sheringham opened by the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway, which is located across the road, enabling the closure of the level crossing there. The original station subsequently became the terminus of the North Norfolk Railway heritage line. Mundesley Railway Station
Mundesley railway station was a former station on the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway in Mundesley, Norfolk. It opened on 1 July 1898. The station was host to a LNER camping coach from 1938 to 1939. Two coaches were positioned here by Eastern Region of British Railways The Eastern Region was a region of British Railways from 1948, whose operating area could be identified from the dark blue signs and colour schemes that adorned its station and other railway buildings. The British half crown was a denomination of sterling coinage worth of one pound, or two shillings and six pence (abbreviated "2/6", familiarly "two and six"), or 30 (old) pence. The half crown was first issued in 1549, in the reign of Edward VI.
