Noreen Motamed
Noreen Motamed is an Iranian-American artist and painter, residing in Maryland. Biography Daughter of linguist, Fereydoun Motamed. She was born in Abadan, Iran and attended primary and secondary school in Tehran and graduated from University of Tehran with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts. She continued her postgraduate studies and once again graduated in first place from Alzahra University with a Master of Arts degree with concentration in painting. She began painting as a professional artist in 1983. Starting with a figurative art style she then turned to abstract work, often depicting abstracted Persian female rug weavers and kilim weavers or humans and nature. Persian miniatures have been great sources of inspiration in her latest paintings. She has continued this style while in the United States with a western influence as it appears in some of her abstract figurative 2 collection. Iran Darroudi
Iran Darroudi ( fa, ایران درودی; 2 September 1936 – 29 October 2021) was an Iranian contemporary artist. Her art consists of surreal paintings dealing with Iranian themed imagery and strong lighting. She lived between Tehran and Paris for many years. Early life Born in Mashhad, Iran, to a family consisting of traders from Khorasan on her father's side and on her mother's side the family were Caucasian merchants who had settled in Mashhad. Her family moved to Hamburg, Germany, for her father's business, in 1937, and by the early 1940s they were forced to leave because of the beginnings of World War II. By 1945 her family returned to Mashhad. Mokarrameh Ghanbari ( fa, مکرمه قنبری; born in 1928 – died October 24, 2005) was an Iranian self-taught painter who won several international art awards. She started painting at the age of 61 in 1991. Biography Mokarrameh was born in 1928 in the Darikhaneh village in the northern Mazandaran Province of Iran, and despite her talent, she never received any formal training in painting. Work She began painting at the age of 61, when she came across some artist's paintings which her son had left at her home. She continued her painting using bright, original colors inspired by the beautiful natural surroundings of her neighborhood, and within a few years her works were noticed by painters in Iran and overseas. She held her first exhibition at the Seyhun Gallery in Tehran in 1995. Mansooreh Hosseini
Mansooreh Hosseini (Persian: منصوره حسینی; born 1 September 1926 – 13 June 2012) was an Iranian contemporary artist and one of the pioneers of the country’s modern art. Life At a young age, it was discovered that she had a talent for drawing, which compelled her father to hire a painting tutor to help her work to her potential. Later on, she was educated at the University of Tehran in the Faculty of Fine Arts, from which she graduated in 1949. Mansooreh left Iran in the early 1950s to live in Italy, where she furthered her education at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts leading up to her artistic début at the 28th (XXVIII) Venice Biennial in 1956. After a moderately successful period in Italy, Mansooreh returned to Iran in 1959 and won several awards in the Tehran Painting Biennial. Sara Shamsavari
Sara Shamsavari is a British-Iranian interdisciplinary artist, photographer, designer and educator based in London. Early life and education Shamsavari was born in Tehran, Iran to Iranian parents, the year of the Islamic Revolution. At 16 months old, Shamsavari developed Wilms' tumor, a tumor of the kidneys. This, along with the impending persecution for their faith the family faced after the revolution, prompted the family to escape Iran. After seeking refuge in Brazil, for three months the family were granted asylum in Britain. Here Shamsavari was successfully cured of cancer at Great Ormond Street Hospital, an experience which later affected her work: "I hope to inspire people towards the message of love, equality and acceptance in this troubled world we live in."
