Nordhavnen
Nordhavnen, or Nordhavn, is a harbour area at the coast of the Øresund, founded at the end of the 19th century in Copenhagen, Denmark. It covers an area of more than 2 km². Today, most of Copenhagen Harbour's traditional activities are situated in Nordhavn, including ferry berths, a container terminal, marina, and industrial companies. The S-train station Nordhavn station is located at Nordhavnen close to the city district Østerbro. Expansion of Nordhavn The agency By og Havn has started the 668 million DKK expansion of Nordhavn into Øresund. The project is the largest construction job in Denmark in 2013 and the largest consumer of steel in Northern Europe; 28,000 tonnes of steel is used for pile driving the sheet piles of the perimeter, and the area is being filled with 7 million tonnes of clean earth and 11 million tonnes of polluted earth from the City Circle Line metro and other projects until around year 2022-2025. Copenhagen Metro
The Copenhagen Metro ( da, Københavns Metro, ) is a 24/7 rapid transit system in Copenhagen, Denmark, serving the municipalities of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, and Tårnby. The original system opened in October 2002, serving nine stations on two lines: M1 and M2. Ã…rhusgade
Århusgade is a street in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It extends east from Østerbrogade and passes under the railway just before entering the southernmost part of Nordhavn which is known as the Århusgade neighbourhood (Danish Århusgadekvarteret) after it. The street has many cafés and small shops. The street is named after the City of Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark. The Silo (Copenhagen)
The Silo is a 65-meter (213 foot) apartment building converted from a former grain silo located in Nordhavn, Copenhagen, Nordhavn, Copenhagen, Denmark. The 17-storey structure was completed in May 2017 and houses 39 apartments, a restaurant and lookout platform. The building was designed by the Copenhagen-based Cobe (architectural firm), Cobe architectural firm, and was completed in 2017. Background The Silo is a part of the transformation of Copenhagen's Nordhaven (meaning North Harbour) from an industrial development into a new city district. Construction required the former grain silo's concrete facade to be upgrading and recladded, the interior of the silo was preserved as much as possible. Portland Towers
Portland towers are two former Aalborg Portland silos which have been converted into a BREEAM-certified office building in the emerging Nordhavn district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The conversion was completed in 2014 to design by Design Group Architects. History Sandkaj (Sand Quay) was built in connection with an extension to the Freeport of Copenhagen in the 1950s and 1960s. The silos were built in 1979 by Aalborg Portland for the storage of cement. They were converted into an office building by NCC Property Development in 2013–14 with ATP Ejendomme, PFA Pension and Pensiondanmark as investors. The project was designed by Design Group Architects. Design The seven floors were constructed on the exterior of the two silos. The interior of the silos contain reception, stairs and elevators. The ''Olsen Gang'' ( da, Olsen-banden, no, Olsenbanden, german: Die Olsenbande) is a Danish comedy film series created by Danish director Erik Balling and special effects expert Henning Bahs about the eponymous fictional criminal gang. The gang's leader is the criminal genius and habitual offender Egon Olsen and his accomplices are Benny and Kjeld (Kjell in Norwegian). The gang members are harmless, extremely rarely target ordinary citizens, and never deliberately use violence.
