Nolan Arendse
Nolan Arendse (born 16 December 1968 from Cape Town) is a former South African professional darts player. Career Arendse failed to qualify for the 2008 and 2010 PDC World Darts Championships. In 2010 he was diagnosed with a hypo-thyroid which forced him to give up darts for 18 months due to being partly paralysed. Two of his vertebrae were then crushed in a car accident after which Arendse had to wear a body brace for six months. Soon afterwards he suffered a heart attack. Arendse lost in the final of the 2013 SAPDO 501 Double Away to Charles Losper. He won the 2014 South African Masters by beating Devon Petersen 9–5 to qualify for the 2015 PDC World Darts Championship. Arendse needed two doctors' letters to get his daily medicine through customs at Heathrow Airport. 2015 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2015 William Hill World Darts Championship was the 22nd World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event was held at the Alexandra Palace, London between 18 December 2014 and 4 January 2015. Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion, having won his first World Championship title in 2014, but he lost 6–3 to Gary Anderson in the semi-finals. Anderson won the title by beating 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor 7–6 in the final. Taylor became the first player in PDC World Championship history to reach the PDC World Champsionship final, achieve a tournament 3-dart average of over 100, and yet not win the title. Brendan Dolan
Brendan Gabriel Dolan (born 2 August 1973) is a Northern Irish professional darts player from County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is best known for becoming the first player to hit a nine-dart finish in a "double-to-start" event (Where a player must hit a double, with a maximum value of 40, to begin play, as opposed to the traditional free choice, 60 point maximum first dart), which he did at the 2011 World Grand Prix. He lost to Phil Taylor in the final of the tournament; to date, it was his only appearance in a major final. Devon Petersen (born 4 June 1986) is a South African professional darts player and a pundit for Sky Sports. He has qualified for the PDC World Championship on seven occasions with his best result coming in 2014, 2019 and 2021 when he reached the last 16. Petersen has become popular for dancing on to the stage to Shakira's "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" before his matches. The Emperors Palace South African Masters was a darts tournament organised by the Professional Darts Corporation which began in 2007, so-named because it took place at the Emperors Palace entertainment resort in Johannesburg, South Africa. Stefan Vermaak is the current champions on 2022 South African Darts Masters he defeats Charles Losper by 9–8 (legs). Format and qualification The tournament had 8 players, 4 of which were the top ranked players on the PDC Order of Merit and the semi-finalists, runner up and winner of the PDC South African Open which takes place the day before. Charles Losper
Charles Losper (born 18 March 1969) is a South African professional darts player who currently played in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Darts career Having started playing darts in 1991, Losper's first major tournament appearance was in the 2003 WDF World Cup with the South African team. Having stayed with them for 3 years, he joined the Professional Darts Corporation in 2006 and made his first PDC tournament appearance in the South African Open. He failed to qualify for the final stages of the tournament but returned in 2007 to come through the 155 player field and win the tournament, beating Lodewyk Marais 4–0 in the final.
