Nochnoy Dozor (group)
Nochnoy Dozor (russian: Ночной дозор, Night Watch, et, Öine Vahtkond) is a group of mostly Russophone political activists living in Estonia. It was set up in the middle of 2006, with its original declared goal of defending the Bronze Soldier, a monument grave marker in Tallinn, near the Estonian National Library and next to a trolleybus stop, against "defacing, relocation and exhumation". Media savvy The group has made several anti-governmental statements and are said to be supported by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Nochnoy Dozor refers to itself as an anti-fascist organization. The group has made a number of public statements dubbing various Estonian politicians as Nazis and calling for their resignation. These statements are often rapidly taken up by Russian language media channels. Dmitri Linter (russian: link=no, Дмитрий Серге́евич Линтер) (born November 22, 1973) is a counselor of vice-director of Russian Military Historical Society He is also a pro-Kremlin political activist, who has worked as vice deputy of the Coordination Centre " Novorossiya" on human rights and humanitarian activities. He was one of leaders of the Nochnoy Dozor advocacy group that opposed the relocation of the Bronze Soldier of Tallinn memorial in 2007. NEWSru.com was a Russian online news site, based in Moscow, which had a government-critical orientation. History NEWSru.com was originally launched in 2000 at the address ntv.ru. When the government took over the NTV network in 2000, with the network becoming part of OAO Gazprom Media, the site remained part of the media empire of former NTV owner, oligarch Vladimir Gusinsky. Yelena Bereznitskaya-Bruni replaced the initial Editor in Chief Igor Barchugov in 2001. The kroon (sign: KR; code: EEK) was the official currency of Estonia for two periods in history: 1928–1940 and 1992–2011.
