No zuo no die () is a Chinese internet meme. The original wording of the Chinese phrase, meaning "one would not be in trouble had one not asked for it", is half-translated to Chinglish where it retains one of its Chinese characters in pinyin. "Zuo" () is a Mandarin Chinese word meaning to "act silly or daring (for attention)". The original Chinese phrase has become very popular in China. In politics (and particularly in international politics), soft power is the ability to co-opt rather than coerce (contrast hard power). In other words, soft power involves shaping the preferences of others through appeal and attraction. A defining feature of soft power is that it is non-coercive; the currency of soft power includes culture, political values, and foreign policies.
