Nizamettin Ariç
Nizamettin Ariç ( ku, Nîzamettîn Arîç; born 1956 in Ağrı, Turkey) is a contemporary Kurdish people, Kurdish singer, composer and director. He was exposed to traditional Kurdish bard music or ''dengbêj'' at an early age, but until 1980 was professionally active as a singer of Turkish-language folksongs, including songs that he himself had translated from Kurdish to Turkish. In 1976, he began performing for Ankara Radio. In 1979, at a concert in his hometown of Ağrı, he sang a love song in Kurdish, and was arrested for spreading propaganda. Upon finding he was to be sentenced to 5–15 years, he sought Asylum in Germany, political asylum in Germany and has resided in Berlin since. Even though he was unable to perform in Turkey, as music critic Orhan Kahyaoğlu notes, Nizamettin Ariç's recordings have been influential on musicians in Turkey, especially Kardeş Türküler (who has covered several of his songs), and film/TV music arranger Aytekin Gazi Ataş. Ağrı
Ağrı ( ku, Agirî; ) is the capital of Ağrı Province in eastern Turkey, near the border with Iran. Formerly known as Karaköse ( ku, Qerekose) from the early Turkish republican period until 1946, and before that as Karakilise ( ota, قره‌کلیسا, Karakilisa, lit=Black Church; ), the city is now named after Ağrı, the Turkish name of Mount Ararat''.'' Çayan Demirel (born 1977 Istanbul) is a Kurdish film director best known for his documentaries about the Kurdish-Turkish conflict. The documentary ''Prison Number 5 (1980-1984)'' on the Diyarbakir prison won several awards and for the documentary ''Bakur'' which focuses on the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), he is currently prosectuted for. Petter Næss
Petter Næss (born 14 March 1960 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian actor and film director. His first film as a director was the comedy ''Absolutt blåmandag'' in 1999. Næss is best known for his work directing two of the three films about Ingvar Ambjørnsen's Elling character, ''Elling'' (2000), which was nominated for the foreign language film Academy Awards, Oscar and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (Love Me Tomorrow), (2005), in addition to ''Bare Bea'' (2003), ''Mozart and the Whale'' (2005) and ''Hoppet (film), Hoppet'' (''The Jump'', 2007) in Sweden. ''Hoppet'' is a 2007 in film, 2007 film, motion picture directed by Petter Næss. Plot The Kurdish boys Azad and Tigris are brothers. Due to an airstrike Tigris cannot speak anymore. They are sent to an uncle in Germany, the parents plan to come soon afterwards. The boys travel through Sweden and are accompanied by another family until Sweden. They get stuck there and have to live with the family in Sweden. Azad is good at high jumping and gets the opportunity to travel to Germany for a competition. However, he has no passport. Therefore, he borrows the passport of a Swedish friend, and changes his appearance to look like the picture: he puts in blue lenses and dyes his hair blonde. Tigris is smuggled into Germany in a suitcase. When he is about to be discovered by the border guard, the latter is distracted with conversation, and they can move on.
