	Nivaagaard Brickworks Nivaagaard Brickworks (Danish: Nivaagaards Teglværk) was one of two major brickworks at Nivå in North Zealand, Denmark. Its former Hoffmann kiln was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1985 and is now operated as a museum under the name Ringovnen. History One of the farms in the village of Nive was in 1707 closed down by Queen Louise and the site was instead used for the establishment of a brickworks which was used for manufacturing bricks for the construction of Hirschholm Palace. The brickyard was after a while leased by master mason Lars Eriksen (born 1753). It returned to the crown after his death but was after a few years then leased by tanner Hans Peter Frode from Helsingør. 	Johannes Hage Johannes Hage (1842 – 1923) was a Danish businessman who became a philanthropist and later founder of the Nivaagaard museum. He was the son of a brickworks director whose estate and complex at Nivaagaard he inherited in 1872. Under his direction the company prospered by supplying bricks to building projects in Copenhagen. With his wealth Hage subsidized the National Museum (Statens Museum for Kunst), but in 1908 decided to found his own art gallery, the ''Nivaagaards Malerisamling'', with 150 paintings. He opened it to the public and in 1908 he made up a will in which he bequeathed the entire collection to the state, along with the museum building and a capital of 60,000 Danish marks for maintenance. The central lake in Hakkemosen is its former clay pit. History Inventor and mechanic Johannes Peter Langgaard purchased the farm Hakkemose at Taastrup in 1847 and founded the brickyard at the site on 10 November that same year. Langgaard had studied the latest technological trends in Germany and constructed a machine for the production of bricks. In 1868 , he also began the construction of a Hoffmann kiln with 15 chambers. Each chamber had room for 22,500 bricks. Hakkemose Brickworks had by the 1870s developed into the largest brickyard in the country. It produced 7 million bricks in 1872.
