Nishat Majumdar
Nishat Mazumdar ( bn, নিশাত মজুমদার) became the first Bangladeshi woman to scale Mount Everest, with the help of three Sherpas - Lakpa Sherpa, Pemba Dorje Sherpa, Mingma Sherpa and a bigger team led by another Bangladeshi mountaineer M. A. Muhit. She reached the northern side of the mountain with the team on 19 May 2012, six days after which internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi mountaineer Wasfia Nazreen reached the summit from Nepal side independently. Biography Mazumdar was born on 5 January 1981, into a family of Majumdars in Ramganj, Noakhali District (now in Lakshmipur District), Bangladesh. Her father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar, was a businessman. Nishat was the second out of the four children of Abdul Mannan Majumdar and Ashura Majumdar. She received both bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Dhaka City College. Ramganj Upazila
Ramganj ( bn, রামগঞ্জ, Ramgônj) is an upazila of Lakshmipur District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The seat lies at Ramganj town, which is by road southeast of Dhaka. History This area was home to an influential Hindu religious leader by the name of Ram after who Ramganj was named after. The Nagmud Madrasa was founded in Ramganj in 1856. In 1891, a thana (police outpost) was established in Ramganj. The Noakhali riots spread to Ramganj on 10 October 1946, and led to heavy casualties for several days. In response, Mahatma Gandhi arrived from Delhi as an appeal. During the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, the Pakistan Army and their collaborators set up camps in Ramganj Godown, Dakbungalow and Ramganj MU High School, and plundered villages in Ramganj.
