Nirit
Nirit ( he, נִירִית) is a community settlement in central Israel. Located near Matan and the Horshim forest, it falls under the jurisdiction of Drom HaSharon Regional Council. In it had a population of . Etymology Nirit was founded on January 19, 1982 Nirit and was named after an indigenous plant, Ridolfia segetum, growing nearby. It expanded twice, once in 1986–1988 and again in 2000. Until 1986 there were only 15 families in temporary buildings, and nowadays it grew to about 240 families. Community Settlement (Israel)
A community settlement ( he, יישוב קהילתי, ''Yishuv Kehilati'') is a type of village in Israel and the West Bank. While in an ordinary town anyone may buy property, in a community settlement the village's residents are organized in a cooperative. They have the power to approve or veto a sale of a house or a business to any buyer. Residents of a community settlement may have a particular shared ideology, religious perspective, or desired lifestyle which they wish to perpetuate by accepting only like-minded individuals. For example, a family-oriented community settlement that wishes to avoid becoming a retirement community may choose to accept only young married couples as new residents. Matan ( he, מתן, lit. ''Gift'') is a community settlement in central Israel. Located near Yarhiv and Nirit, it falls under the jurisdiction of Drom HaSharon Regional Council. Ridolfia Segetum
''Ridolfia segetum'', called false fennel, corn parsley, or false caraway, is an annual weed of the Mediterranean region. Its height . The stem is erect, striate, and branched. The glabrous leaves are finely divided several times with filiform leaflets, the upper leaves frequently reduced, and the base of the petiole enlarged. The flowers are yellow, arranged in small umbels with almost uniform rays (10-60). The seeds and leaves contain an essential oil, and the plant has a strong odor. It is used as a herb in the pickle industry. The plant can be eaten in its raw form, or cooked. ''Ridolfia segetum'' is also used for medicinal purposes. It is used in the Mediterranean as a medicine for regulating women’s menstrual periods, and to increase milk flow in nursing mothers. The Green Line, (pre-)1967 border, or 1949 Armistice border, is the demarcation line set out in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between the armies of Israel and those of its neighbors (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria) after the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. It served as the ''de facto'' borders of the State of Israel from 1949 until the Six-Day War in 1967. The Green Line was intended as a demarcation line rather than a permanent border. Israeli settlements, or Israeli colonies, are civilian communities inhabited by Israeli citizens, overwhelmingly of Jewish ethnicity, built on lands occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War. The international community considers Israeli settlements to be illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this. Tamir Pardo ( he, תמיר פרדו; born 1953) is the former Director of the Mossad, taking over the role from Meir Dagan on January 1, 2011. The appointment was announced by Israeli prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on November 29, 2010. Biography Pardo was born in Tel Aviv to a Sephardi-Jewish family. His father was an immigrant from Turkey, and his mother was of Serbian-Jewish origin. At age 18, when he began his compulsory service in the Israel Defense Forces, he volunteered for the paratroopers. He graduated from an officers' course, and later served as a communication officer in the elite special forces unit Sayeret Matkal. He also served in the Shaldag Unit.
