Nir Shantal
Nir Shental (also "Chantal"; ניר שנטל; born April 25, 1969) is an Israeli Olympic competitive sailor. Early life Shental was born in Jaffa, Israel, and he is Jewish. His brother is an Olympic competitive sailor Ran Shental. Sailing career His club is Hapoel Tel Aviv, in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 1987, Shental and his brother Ran won the gold medal in the 17th International Yacht Racing Union (IYRU) Youth Sailing World Championships in the 420 dinghy—Open in Botany Bay, NSW, Australia. They beat out future Olympians Jean-François Berthet and Gwenael Berthet of France. In August 1988, he won the silver medal in the 470 dinghy Junior World Championship in the 470 - Open, in Puck, Poland. In 1993, Shental and his brother won the silver medal in the 470 World Championships. Jaffa
Jaffa, in Hebrew Yafo ( he, יָפוֹ, ) and in Arabic Yafa ( ar, يَافَا) and also called Japho or Joppa, the southern and oldest part of Tel Aviv-Yafo, is an ancient port city in Israel. Jaffa is known for its association with the biblical stories of Jonah, Solomon and Saint Peter as well as the mythological story of Andromeda and Perseus, and later for its oranges. Today, Jaffa is one of Israel's mixed cities, with approximately 37% of the city being Arab. Etymology The town was mentioned in Egyptian sources and the Amarna letters as ''Yapu''. Mythology says that it is named for Yafet (Japheth), one of the sons of Noah, the one who built it after the Flood. The men's triathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place at the Odaiba Marine Park in Tokyo on 26 July. The race began with a false start, as a media boat blocked about a third of the field from entering the water. After the restart, the field remained close together coming out of the water. In the cycling leg, a group of 10 broke away for the first few laps but the chasing pack eventually reeled them by the end of the fifth lap to form a lead group of 37 triathletes. On the last lap, Andrea Salvisberg broke away solo to lead by 16 seconds heading into the second transition, but he was caught by the rest of the field on the first lap of the running leg. The lead group remained together until the end of the third lap, when Alex Yee, Kristian Blummenfelt, and Hayden Wilde surged ahead. Ran Sagiv
Ran Sagiv (רן שגיב; born 25 March 1997) is an Israeli Olympic triathlete. He won the bronze medal in the 2019 World Triathlon U23 Championships. Sagiv competed in the men's triathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021, coming in 35th. Early and personal life Sagiv is a native of Zichron Yaakov, Israel. His father is Shemi Sagiv (at the time known as Sabag), who represented Israel as a marathon runner at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, studied medicine, and is now a chiropractor, and his mother Rachela is a special education consultant.
