Nini Haslund Gleditsch
Nini Haslund Gleditsch (28 June 1908 – 25 July 1996) was a Norwegian political activist and advocate for peace. Personal life Nini (née Ingrid Margaret Haslund) was born in Moss as the daughter of deputy education officer Johannes Emmanuel Haslund and Aagot Mathilde Løken. She married fellow Mot Dag activist and geodesist Kristian Gleditsch in 1934. They were the parents of Nils Petter Gleditsch. Her sister-in-law was Ellen Gleditsch, radiochemist and Norway's second female professor. Nini Haslund Gleditsch died in Oslo in 1996. Career Pre-war career While working as a joiner's mate in Copenhagen in the late 1920s, she was part of the circle around the organization Clarté. She moved to Oslo as a student in 1930. In the early 1930s, she joined the leftist organization Mot Dag. Kristian Gleditsch
Kristian Gleditsch, MBE (30 June 1901 – 7 April 1973) was a Norwegian civil engineer and geodesist. He served as and Director of the Norwegian Mapping and Cadastre Authority from 1945 until 1971. Background He was born in Tromsøysund (now Tromsø) in Troms, Norway. He was a son of headmaster Karl Kristian Gleditsch (1851–1913) and Petra Birgitte Hansen (1857–1913). His family moved to Trondhjem and then Fredrikshald in 1905. From 1913 he lived with his sister Ellen Gleditsch. He was a nephew of Jens Gran Gleditsch and Kristen Gran Gleditsch, a first cousin of Henry Gleditsch and second cousin of Rolf Juell Gleditsch and Odd Gleditsch, Sr. In February 1934 he married fellow activist Ingrid Margaret Haslund (1908–1996), better known as Nini Haslund Gleditsch. Ellen Gleditsch
Ellen Gleditsch (29 December 1879 – 5 June 1968) was a Norwegian radiochemist and Norway's second female professor. Starting her career as an assistant to Marie Curie, she became a pioneer in radiochemistry, establishing the half-life of radium and helping demonstrate the existence of isotopes. She was Vice President of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights 1937–1939. Early life and education Ellen Gleditsch was born in 1879 in Mandal, Norway. Moss, Norway
is a coastal town and a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Moss. The city of Moss was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt) and City in 1720. The rural municipality of Jeløy was merged with the city on 1 July 1943. The former municipality of Rygge was merged into it on January 1, 2020. Its administrative district covers areas east of the town, such as the island of Dillingøy in the lake Vansjø. Trygve Halvdan Lie ( , ; 16 July 1896 – 30 December 1968) was a Norwegians, Norwegian politician, labour leader, government official and author. He served as Norwegian foreign minister during the critical years of the Nygaardsvold's Cabinet, Norwegian government in exile in London from 1940 to 1945. Terje Wold
Terje Wold (23 August 1899 – 6 September 1972) was a Norwegian judge and politician for the Labour Party. Terje Wold was born in Evenes. He graduated as cand.jur. in 1921. He worked as a jurist, becoming a Supreme Court Justice of Norway in 1950. From 1958 to 1969 he was the 15th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He was a member of the United Nations War Crimes Commission from 1945 to 1946 and the European Court of Human Rights from 1959 to 1972. He presided at the World Association of Judges from 1969 to 1972. Wold was appointed Minister of Justice during the cabinet Nygaardsvold, and sat from 1939 to 1945.
