Nils Erik Flakstad (sculptor)
Nils Erik Flakstad (born 9 August 1907 in Hamar, died on 31 July 1979 in Oslo) was a Norwegian sculptor, son of businessperson and politician Nils Erik Flakstad. He studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry from 1928 to 1930, and at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts from 1930 to 1932. He was a teacher at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry 1955–1975. He started as a painter and first began in the late 1930s with sculpture. Among his works include contributions at Oslo City Hall, in front of Haugesund City Hall, a relief of the Parliamentary stair hall at Stortinget, and monuments to fallen Norwegian patriots during World War II in Hamar, Haugesund Haugesund () is a municipality on the North Sea in Rogaland county, Norway. Haugesund () is a municipality on the North Sea in Rogaland county, Norway. While the population is greater in the neighboring Karmøy municipality, the main commercial and economic centre of the Haugaland region in northern Rogaland and southern Vestland is in Haugesund. Akershus Fortress
Akershus Fortress ( no, Akershus Festning, ) or Akershus Castle ( no, Akershus slott ) is a medieval castle in the Norwegian capital Oslo that was built to protect and provide a royal residence for the city. Since the Middle Ages the fortress has been the namesake and centre of the main fief and later main county of Akershus, which was originally one of Norway's four main regions and which included most of Eastern Norway. The fortress itself was located within the Akershus main county until 1919, and also within the smaller Akershus sub county until 1842. The castle has also been used as a military base, a prison and is currently the temporary office of the Prime minister of Norway. Haugesund City Hall is the city hall of Haugesund municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. History Funding for the city hall was donated in 1921 by shipping magnate Knut Knutsen (Knut Knutsen OAS) and his wife Elisabeth. In 1921 they donated 1 million Norwegian krones to the construction of the town hall. The gift was given in respect Knut Knutsen O.A.S. 50 years anniversary. Later, the shipping magnate also provided funding for the preparation of the park around the town hall. Oslo City Hall
Oslo City Hall ( no, Oslo rådhus) is a municipal building in Oslo, the capital of Norway. It houses the city council, the city's administration and various other municipal organisations. The building as it stands today was constructed between 1931 and 1950, with an interruption during the Second World War. It was designed by architects Arnstein Arneberg and Magnus Poulsson. The building is located in the city center, in the northern part of the Pipervika neighbourhood, and it faces Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall is built of red brick and has two towers, one 63 meters tall and other 66 meters tall. The bricks used are larger than what was typical at the time of construction, but are roughly the same size as bricks used in the Middle Ages.
