Nikos Paraskevopoulos
Nikos Paraskevopoulos ( gr, Νίκος Παρασκευόπουλος) is a Greek criminologist who is a former Greek Minister of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights. He was a Professor of criminal law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki's Law School. The Ministry of Justice ( el, Υπουργείο Δικαιοσύνης) is the government department entrusted with the supervision of the legal and judicial system of Greece. The incumbent minister is Konstantinos Tsiaras of New Democracy. It was founded as the State Secretariat for Justice () on 25 January 1833, and later known as the Ministry of Justice ( Katharevousa: , Demotic: ). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. January 2015 Greek Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Greece on Sunday 25 January 2015 to elect all 300 members to the Hellenic Parliament in accordance with the constitution. The election was held earlier than scheduled due to the failure of the Greek parliament to elect a new president on 29 December 2014. Syriza won a legislative election for the first time, winning 36% of votes and 149 seats, just two short of an absolute majority. The centre-right New Democracy (ND), the outgoing party of government, saw only a small decline from 30% to 28%, but in falling to second place suffered its worst showing to date in terms of seats. Ethnos ( el, Έθνος, lit="The Nation") is the name of a Greek weekly newspaper first published in 1913. History The newspaper was first published in 1913 with a Venizelist political thesis. Always in the progressive political spectrum, it supported later Georgios Papandreou and Center Union. In 1970, during the Greek military junta of 1967-74, it was forced to stop publishing.
