Nikos Pappas (basketball)
Nikolaos "Nikos" Pappas (Greek: Νικόλαος "Νίκος" Παππάς, born July 11, 1990) is a Greek professional basketball player for Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and the EuroLeague. He stands at meters of height and plays at the shooting guard position. Early years Pappas is from Aidipsos in where he grew up. He started his career from the local club Syllas.Then, he transferred to Locros Atalanti. His mother is Greek Cypriot from Famagusta. Professional career Pappas made his professional debut in the Greek League with Panellinios, during the 2006–07 season. He made his debut in Europe's continent-wide second-tier level competition, the EuroCup, with Panellinios, during the 2007–08 season. He signed a 5-year contract with the Spanish League club Bilbao Basket in 2008. He was loaned to the reserve team of Real Madrid, Real Madrid B, of the Spanish 4th Division, for the 2008–09 season. Greece National Basketball Team
The Greece men's national basketball team ( el, Eθνική Oμάδα Καλαθοσφαίρισης Ελλάδος) represents Greece in international basketball. They are controlled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Greece. Greece is currently ranked ninth in the FIBA World Rankings. Greece appeared eight times at the FIBA World Cup, their best performance coming in 2006 as runners-up, after beating the United States 101–95 in the tournament's semi-final. Greece took part the in the EuroBasket 28 times, winning the tournament twice; while also coming away with one silver ( 1989) as well as two bronze medals (1949, 2009). Some of the team's highlights at the competition were beating the Soviet Union 103–101 in the final in Athens to win their first title in 1987, and defeating Germany by the score of 78–62 in the final in 2005. The FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-19 World Championship) is the under-19 men's world basketball championship organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). Albert Schweitzer Tournament
The Albert Schweitzer Tournament (AST) is an international basketball competition that is played between national basketball teams of the Under-18 men age category. It takes place every two years in Mannheim, Germany, and is contested between teams from 12 countries. Since FIBA does not organize an Under-18 world championship, the Albert Schweitzer Tournament is internationally recognized and considered a non-FIBA organized world championship for the Under-18 age group. The HEBA Greek All-Star Game, also known as the EKO Greek All-Star Game for sponsorship reasons, is the All-Star Game of the HEBA (Greek: ΕΣΑΚΕ) Greek professional basketball association for men. It was founded and organized by Gus Sarianides. The men's all-star game has most often been played in a format featuring the Greek All-Stars, versus the Rest of the World All-Stars. There is also a men's slam dunk competition, and a men's 3-point shootout competition. The 2018–19 Greek Basketball Cup was the 44th edition of Greece's top-tier level professional national domestic basketball cup competition. The previous winners of the cup were AEK. The cup competition started on 15 September 2018 and ended on 17 February 2019. Panathinaikos won the competition.
