Nikolay Tsaturyan
Nikolay Yervandi Tsaturyan ( hy, Նիկոլայ Ծատուրյան; born January 8, 1945, in Yerevan) is an Armenian theatre director, actor and playwright, People's Artist of Armenia (2011), Professor. He is the Artistic Director of Vardan Ajemian State Drama Theatre of Gyumri. Biography Nikolay Tsaturyan is a son of Ervand Tsatouryan, a movie director. Nikolay studied at the Yerevan Institute of Theater and Fine Arts with Marat Marinosyan, and Vardan Ajemian, whom he considers to be his "maestro". He identifies himself as an atheist. He also studied at Moscow High Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors with Georgi Danelia. He worked at Hayfilm, then assisted to Yuli Raizman at Mosfilm. He was the director of Sundukyan State Academic Theatre of Yerevan, the founder of "Metro" theatre. He is also well known for his leading role at "Comrade Panjouni" film. Vahagn Davtyan
Vahagn Davtyan () (August 15, 1922, Arabkir, Turkey – February 21, 1996, Yerevan) was an Armenian poet, translator, publicist and public activist. Biography He was born in the town of Arapgir in Turkey. Davtyan was a Renowned activist of culture (1971) and a Corresponding Member of Armenian National Academy (1986). He was also an editor ("Grakan tert", "Hayreniki dzayn", "Veradznvadz Hayastan"). From 1990 to 1994 he was the Chairman of the Writers' Union of Armenia. He translated the works of Alexander Pushkin, Sergei Yesenin, Sándor Petőfi, Alexander Blok, etc. The main theme of his works were fatherland, human, his work and emotions. He mainly wrote poems and ballads. He died in 1996 in Yerevan, Armenia. Vahagn Davtyan is buried at Komitas Pantheon which is located in the city center of Yerevan. Alexander Valentinovich Vampilov (russian: Александр Валентинович Вампилов) (19 August 1937 – 17 August 1972) was a Soviet playwright. His play ''The Elder Son'' was first performed in 1969, and became a national success two years later. Many of his plays have been filmed or televised in Russia. His four full-length plays were translated into English and ''Duck Hunting'' was performed in London and Washington DC (Arena Stage). Life Vampilov was the fourth child in the family of schoolteachers. William Saroyan
William Saroyan (; August 31, 1908 – May 18, 1981) was an Armenian-American novelist, playwright, and short story writer. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1940, and in 1943 won the Academy Award for Best Story for the film ''The Human Comedy''. When the studio rejected his original 240-page treatment, he turned it into a novel, '' The Human Comedy.'' Saroyan is regarded as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Saroyan wrote extensively about the Armenian immigrant life in California. Many of his stories and plays are set in his native Fresno.
