Nikolay Moiseev
Nikolay Moiseev is a Russian Lead Spacesuit Designer. He was exclusively featured by the documentary series "Made By Russians" for his work in the space industry. He specializes in glove design. He is a co-founder of Final Frontier Design and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. Biography Nikolay Moiseev has over 20 years of space suit experience from the Russian space suit agency, NPP Zvezda, and is one of the few engineers to work with all of the current in-service space suit designs, including America's EMU and ACES, and the Russian Orlan and Sokol. He studied a masters at Moscow Aviation Institute. Nik took part in the NASA Astronaut Glove Challenge in 2007. Final Frontier Design
Final Frontier Design is a seed-stage startup company that builds and tests spacesuits. The company's products both enable, and are enabled by, the more recent lower-cost access to space epitomized by NewSpace launch companies such as SpaceX, Virgin Galactic and XCOR Aerospace. FFD was awarded a Phase I SBIR in 2011 and developed pressure garment glove technology under this contract. In July 2011, Final Frontier Design won third place in the ''2011 NewSpace Business Plan Competition'' in Silicon Valley, sponsored by the Space Frontier Foundation. In December 2014, Final Frontier Design obtained an official Space Act Agreement with NASA. Ted Southern is an American artist and designer. He is a co-founder of Final Frontier Design and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, United States. Biography Ted Southern, President of Final Frontier Design, artist, and designer, began his career in aerospace by entering the NASA Astronaut Glove Challenge in 2007 as part of his MFA thesis at Pratt Institute. In 2009, Ted and Nik took home a cash prize and created Final Frontier Design from the winnings with Nikolay Moiseev. Ted and Nik used kickstarter to help fund the 3G space suit. Spacesuits
A space suit or spacesuit is a garment worn to keep a human alive in the harsh environment of outer space, vacuum and temperature extremes. Space suits are often worn inside spacecraft as a safety precaution in case of loss of cabin pressure, and are necessary for extravehicular activity (EVA), work done outside spacecraft. Space suits have been worn for such work in Earth orbit, on the surface of the Moon, and en route back to Earth from the Moon. Modern space suits augment the basic pressure garment with a complex system of equipment and environmental systems designed to keep the wearer comfortable, and to minimize the effort required to bend the limbs, resisting a soft pressure garment's natural tendency to stiffen against the vacuum. A self-contained oxygen supply and environmental control system is frequently employed to allow complete freedom of movement, independent of the spacecraft.
