Niklaus Fleury
Niklaus Fleury (born 10 May 1945) is a Dutch former professional tennis player. He was active from 1965 to 1978 and won 2 career singles titles. Career he played his first tournament at the Netherlands National Championships in 1965 where he reached the quarter finals, but lost to Jan Hajer. In 1967 he won his first singles title at the Tilburg International Indoor tournament against Jan Hajer. In 1969 Fleury won his second and final title at the Netherlands National Championships against Evert Schneider, and made his Davis Cup debut that year, going on to feature in six ties for his country. He also won a further seven men's doubles national titles with Jan Hordijk (all in succession) and another five in mixed doubles. In 1967 he featured in the mixed doubles main draw at Wimbledon. He played his final singles event in 1978 playing for the Netherlands Masters, that was part the Netherlands 1 Satellite Circuit. Tennis
Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball validly will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society and at all ages. Jan Hajer
Jan Hajer (The Hague, 31 March 1942 - Breda, 27 August 2002) was a Dutch tennis player. He was the national champion in 1963. He represented the Netherlands in the Davis-Cup between 1964 and 1968. Biography Hajer was a contemporary of Tom Okker who overshadowed Hajer's career. The two were teammates in the Haarlem Lawn Tennis Club. Hajer won the 1963 national championships, succeeding Willem Maris who was Dutch national champion in 1962. In 1964 Jan Hajer lost the final against Tom Okker. Later Hajer and Okker represented the Netherlands in the Davis Cup team. Hajer played 18 singles matches in seven Davis Cup ties, scoring 5 victories and 13 losses. Tilburg () is a city and municipality in the Netherlands, in the southern province of North Brabant. Evert Schneider (born 4 February 1942) is a Dutch former tennis player. Schneider is a native of The Hague and was a two-time national champion in doubles. In 1962 he represented the Netherlands in a Davis Cup tie against the Soviet Union in Scheveningen, featuring in both singles and doubles. He had a win over Ingo Buding Ingo Dietmar Buding (9 January 1942 – 13 March 2003) was a West German tennis player. His sisters Edda and Ilse were also tennis players. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. Jan Hordijk (born 5 February 1950) is a Dutch former professional tennis player. Born in Rotterdam, Hordijk featured in nine Davis Cup ties for the Netherlands, from 1969 to 1974. His Davis Cup career included a singles win over Paolo Bertolucci of Italy and doubles win against a Romanian duo featuring Ilie Năstase.
