Nijkerk Railway Station
Nijkerk is a railway station located in Nijkerk, Netherlands. The station was opened on 20 August 1863 and is located on the Utrecht–Kampen railway (''Centraalspoorweg''). The services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. Utrecht–Kampen Railway
The Utrecht–Kampen railway (also known as ''Centraalspoorweg'') is an important railway line in the Netherlands running from Utrecht to Kampen, passing through Bilthoven, Amersfoort, Nijkerk, Ermelo, Harderwijk, Nunspeet, Wezep and Zwolle. The line was opened between 1863 and 1865 by the Nederlandsche Centraal-Spoorweg-Maatschappij. Its northern part (Zwolle– Kampen) is known as the ''Kamperlijntje'', currently operated by Keolis Nederland. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. In contrast to road transport, where the vehicles run on a prepared flat surface, rail vehicles (rolling stock) are directionally guided by the tracks on which they run. Nijkerk (; Dutch Low Saxon: ''Niekark'') is a municipality and a city located in the middle of the Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland. Nijkerk–Ede-Wageningen Railway
The Nijkerk–Ede-Wageningen railway is a railway line in the Netherlands currently running from Barneveld to Ede-Wageningen. The part between Nijkerk and Barneveld has been demolished. It was previously nicknamed the ''Kippenlijn'' ("chicken line") in Dutch, but since 2006, it's nicknamed ''Valleilijn'' ("valley line") by its operator (Connexxion). The line The Valleilijn is a single track line with passing loops at Barneveld Centrum and Lunteren. It runs through the valley where there are many chicken farms and was therefore originally called the Kippenlijn until a project was launched on 10 December 2006. The line has interchanges with other railway services at Amersfoort and Ede-Wageningen. History The line opened on 1 May 1902 as the Kippenlijn from Nijkerk to Ede. The line between Nijkerk and Barneveld Noord closed in 1937 and the whole line was shut on 7 September 1944 because of World War II.
