KMFDM
KMFDM (originally Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, loosely translated by the band as "no pity for the majority") is a multinational industrial band from Hamburg led by Sascha Konietzko, who founded the band in 1984 as a performance art project. The band's earliest incarnation included German drummer En Esch and British vocalist Raymond Watts, the latter of whom left and rejoined the group several times over its history. The trio recorded the band's earliest albums in Germany before Konietzko and Esch moved to the United States, where they found much greater success with seminal industrial record label Wax Trax!. Juke Joint Jezebel
"Juke Joint Jezebel" is a song by industrial rock group KMFDM from their 1995 album ''Nihil''. It is KMFDM's most widely known song to date, with around three million copies of the song sold across various releases. Background and composition The music for the song was written primarily by KMFDM frontman Sascha Konietzko, who asked returning band member Raymond Watts to write the lyrics for "Juke Joint Jezebel" as well as a few other tracks from ''Nihil''. ''Xtort'' (stylized as XTOЯT) is the ninth studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on June 25, 1996 by Wax Trax! Records. It was recorded from the end of 1995 through early 1996, shortly after the death of Wax Trax! co-founder and band friend Jim Nash. ''Xtort'' features a variety of guest artists from the industrial music scene and studio musicians from other genres, but includes limited participation from core member En Esch. The album was massively promoted by KMFDM's American label TVT Records, which pressed tens of thousands of copies of its lead single "Power". ''Angst'' is the seventh studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on October 13, 1993 by Wax Trax! Records. Background Bandmates Sascha Konietzko and En Esch began working together again after splitting up during the recording of their previous album, ''Money''. Konietzko had moved to Seattle in 1993, while Esch had moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. ''Angst'' was the first album the band recorded in America with new engineer Chris Shepard, after recording their first six albums in Hamburg, the previous four of which had all been engineered by Blank Fontana. Mark Durante
Mark Durante is an American musician and songwriter who is based in Chicago. Career Durante began playing guitar in 1966 after being inspired by the fretwork of Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Merle Travis. Ten years later, Durante founded a rock combo he named "Public Enemy". Durante's band bears no relationship to the hip-hop musicians of the same name. The band broke up when Durante expressed a desire to play punk rock. In the early 1980s, Durante played guitar with The Aliens and the punk band The Next Big Thing. In the late 1980s, he played with the Slammin' Watusis who recorded two albums for Epic Records. It was during this time Mark started using the "durantula" moniker given to him by Blue Watusis drummer Marcus David, later to be trademarked. Günter Schulz
Günter Schulz (or Guenter Schulz) is a German musician, songwriter and former member of the industrial band KMFDM. Biography Schulz's first credited appearance (as Svetlana Ambrosius, or Svet Am) was on the band's '' Naïve'' album (1990). He continued using that stage name until 1995's ''Nihil''. Schulz displayed an impressive mastery of speed metal guitar skills and co-wrote many of KMFDM's songs from the 1990s. He also wrote and performed in various KMFDM side projects, including two albums with Sascha Konietzko's Excessive Force and a solo album by En Esch. He currently resides in Vancouver, Canada. In early manifestations of the KMFDM website, Schulz maintained a section called "Günter's Guitar Garage." Among other things, he used the space to encourage amateur guitarists to learn formal notation as opposed to tablature. Bill Rieflin
William Frederick Rieflin (September 30, 1960 – March 24, 2020) was an American musician. Rieflin came to prominence in the 1990s mainly for his work as a drummer with groups (particularly in the industrial rock and industrial metal scenes) such as Ministry, the Revolting Cocks, Lard, KMFDM, Pigface, Swans, Chris Connelly, and Nine Inch Nails. He worked regularly with R.E.M. following the retirement of Bill Berry in 1997. He was a member of King Crimson from 2013 until his death in 2020. Career Rieflin was born on September 30, 1960 (some sources say September 29) and began his professional career in his hometown of Seattle. Chris Shepard is an American recording engineer and general manager at Chicago Recording Company. He is best known for his work with KMFDM, having engineered some of their most popular albums. He also worked on some of Sascha Konietzko's side projects. Raymond Watts
Raymond Watts (also known by his former stage names Nainz, Nainz Watts and Ray Scaballero) is an English musician, the founding and sole member of the industrial music project PIG, sometimes written as <PIG>. Watts was an early member and periodic collaborator of KMFDM, and has been a visible part of the industrial music scene since the early 1980s. He has toured with KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, Schaft, Schwein, and Einstürzende Neubauten. Dorona Alberti
Dorona Alberti (born 1975, Maastricht) is a singer and actress whose projects include: industrial music act KMFDM, Hobson, Fairocious, Old Shoes, Pick up the Pieces, Briskey, and most recently, the Dutch/Belgian Lounge group Gare du Nord. History Alberti studied theater at the University of Amsterdam and jazz at Rotterdam Conservatory. She began working with KMFDM in 1992, and performed on most of the albums in the 1990s.
