Nightmares For Sale
, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kaoru Ohashi. Nightmares for Sale is a series of short stories that feature Shadow and Maria, a duo who run a pawnshop with items for those in need. Things quickly turn horrific however, when unsuspecting customers get more than what they bargained for. The two volume series was published in Japan by Asahi Sonorama, with the first volume released in January 2002 and the second following in February. It is licensed for an English language release in North America by Aurora Publishing. The English adaptation received mixed reviews with some reviews calling them a good group of horror stories, while others cite the poor quality of them. Horror is a genre of fiction which is intended to frighten, scare, or disgust. Asahi Sonorama
is the publishing arm of The Asahi Shimbun Company, publishing books, magazines, and manga. It replaced on 1 April 2008 just after it went bankrupt. History Asahi Sonorama was created as a division of Asahi Shimbunsha on September 9, 1959, under the name "Asahi Sonopress". It was initially established to record interviews, news, crime scene investigations, and articles on a variety of topics, and then release them on tape and sonosheets in the audio recording magazine ''Asahi Sonorama'' (from whence the company got its name). While doing this, the company also began publishing other magazines, manga collections, and novels. Even though the sound quality of sonosheets was lower than that of vinyl records, the sonosheets were flexible and could last a long time. Aurora Publishing, Inc. was the American subsidiary of Japanese publisher Ohzora Publishing, the leading ''josei'' manga publisher in Japan. Headquartered in Torrance, California, it licensed and published Japanese manga for the North American market. Aurora Publishing's first release was '' Walkin' Butterfly'' under the '' shōjo'' imprint ''Aurora'', which features manga targeting female readers in their teens and younger.
