Night Of The Nearly Dead
"Night of the Nearly Dead" is the seventh, and penultimate, episode of the third and final series of the Channel 4 sitcom ''Father Ted''. The episode's title and some of the scenes are a parody on the movie ''Night of the Living Dead''. Synopsis Mrs Doyle, as well as several other middle-aged and elderly women, are devoted fans of the boyish and dimwitted television presenter and pop superstar Eoin McLove. Eoin holds a contest for the best ode to him, offering a visit to the winner. Mrs Doyle's poem is announced as the winner, and she eagerly prepares for his visit. While shopping, one of her friends, Mrs Boyle, asks when Eoin will be arriving. Mrs Doyle admits it is supposed to be a secret, but tells her it will be that Sunday, and ask she not tell anyone else. ''Night of the Living Dead'' is a 1968 American independent horror film directed, photographed, and edited by George A. A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. "Going to America" is the series finale of the Channel 4 sitcom ''Father Ted''. It is the eighth episode of the third series, and the 25th episode overall. Dermot Morgan, who played the show's title character, died the day after filming was completed. Synopsis After Ted prevents a depressed Father Kevin (Tommy Tiernan) from jumping to his death at the "It's Great Being a Priest" conference, an American priest, Father Buzz Cagney ( Jeff Harding), asks him if he will come to a parish in Los Angeles. Ted cannot wait and excitedly tells Jack, Dougal and Mrs. Doyle, who incorrectly think they will be able to come with him. Ted does not have the heart to tell them otherwise and brings them to the airport, dumping them there while he gets on the plane. Arthur Mathews (born 30 April 1959) is an Irish comedy writer and actor who, often with writing partners such as Graham Linehan, Paul Woodfull and Matt Berry, has either written or contributed to television comedies, such as ''Father Ted, Big Train,'' and ''Toast of London'' and ''Harry Enfield and Chums''.
