Nigerian Reggae
Reggae is a style of Jamaican music that evolved in the late 1960s. Later, it became a major part of the music of Nigeria, especially after the rise of singer Majek Fashek. Fashek was, like many Nigerian reggae performers, a part of the long-running band ''‘The Jahsticks''’. The most notable is Daniel Wilson (AKA Mr. Ragamuffin) who introduced his brand of ragamuffin music to Nigeria. Daniel Wilson dazzled the Nigerian music scene with hits like Mr.Ragamuffin and Original Bad Boy. Other musicians include Jerri Jheto, Daddy Showkey, Ras Kimono, Rymzo, De king, high school band of Victor Eshiet and Peggy Umanna, The Mandators, and the London-based MC Afrikan Simba. Reggae
Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, " Do the Reggay" was the first popular song to use the word "reggae", effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term ''reggae'' more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady. Music Of Jamaica
The music of Jamaica includes Jamaican folk music and many popular genres, such as mento, ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub music, dancehall, reggae fusion and related styles. Reggae is especially popular through the international fame of Bob Marley. Jamaican music's influence on music styles in other countries includes the practice of toasting, which was brought to New York City and evolved into rapping. British genres such as Lovers rock, jungle music and grime are also influenced by Jamaican music. Majek Fashek
Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek (March 1963 – 1 June 2020) was a Nigerian singer-songwriter and guitarist. His 1988 album ''Prisoner of Conscience'' included the single "Send Down the Rain", which won six PMAN Music Awards. Also known as The Rainmaker, he worked with various artists worldwide including Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé Early life Fashek was born in Benin City to an Edo mother and an Ijesha father in 1963, but identified mainly with his Benin roots. Ras Kimono (9 May 1958 – 10 June 2018) was a Nigerian reggae artist whose debut album ''Under Pressure'', led by the single "Rum-Bar Stylée", was a big hit in the Nigerian music scene in 1989. Before he released his solo album, he was in a group called ''The Jastix'' along with Amos McRoy and Majek Fashek. Pioneer Anomaly
The Pioneer anomaly, or Pioneer effect, was the observed deviation from predicted accelerations of the ''Pioneer 10'' and ''Pioneer 11'' spacecraft after they passed about on their trajectories out of the Solar System. The apparent anomaly was a matter of much interest for many years but has been subsequently explained by anisotropic radiation pressure caused by the spacecraft's heat loss. Both ''Pioneer'' spacecraft are escaping the Solar System but are slowing under the influence of the Sun's gravity. Upon very close examination of navigational data, the spacecraft were found to be slowing slightly more than expected. The effect is an extremely small acceleration towards the Sun, of , which is equivalent to a reduction of the outbound velocity by 1 km/h over a period of ten years. Orits Williki
Orits Wiliki is a Nigerian reggae musician who gained recognition upon the success of his 1989 record, ''Tribulation'' produced in part by Lemmy Jackson. The record was followed by ''Conqueror,'' released in 1990, and in 1991, he released a less successful LP ''Wha Dis Wha Dat''. The album included the single, ''Heart of Stone'' which included an Islamic chant, an addition by Wiliki, a Christian to promote religious tolerance. The influence of religion was eminent in some of his songs so also was disenchantment with the Nigerian society.
