The Nigeria Prize for Science is a Nigerian science award given annually since 2004 for excellence in science breakthroughs. It is the country's highest scientific award. Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited
Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) is a liquefied natural gas (LNG)-producing company and a liquefied natural gas plant on Bonny Island, Nigeria. History Nigeria LNG Limited was incorporated as a limited liability company on 17 May 1989, to produce LNG and natural gas liquids (NGL) for export. The plant was built by TSKJ consortium, which was led by former Halliburton's subsidiary KBR. Other participants of the consortium were Snamprogetti, Technip and JGC Corporation. The first train came into operation in 1999. In September 1999, the Bonny plant started production and was expected to send its first shipment in October. It started with sales contracts with Enel for 3.5 billion bcm/y, Enagás for 1.6 bcm/y, BOTAŞ for 1.2 bcm/y, and Gaz de France for 500 million cu m/year. The feed gas was provided by Shell, Elf Aquitaine and Agip. The award rotates among four genres; fiction, poetry, drama and children's literature, repeating the cycle every four years. With the total prize value of to individual winner, it is the biggest literary award in Africa and one of the richest literary awards in the world. African Trypanosomiasis
African trypanosomiasis, also known as African sleeping sickness or simply sleeping sickness, is an insect-borne parasitic infection of humans and other animals. It is caused by the species ''Trypanosoma brucei''. Humans are infected by two types, ''Trypanosoma brucei gambiense'' (TbG) and '' Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense'' (TbR). TbG causes over 98% of reported cases. Both are usually transmitted by the bite of an infected tsetse fly and are most common in rural areas. Initially, the first stage of the disease is characterized by fevers, headaches, itchiness, and joint pains, beginning one to three weeks after the bite. Weeks to months later, the second stage begins with confusion, poor coordination, numbness, and trouble sleeping. Nigerian Academy Of Science
The Nigerian Academy of Science is the official science academy of Nigeria. The academy of science was established on 18 January 1977, as an association of Nigeria's foremost scientists, but incorporated in 1986. It is the apex scientific organization in Nigeria. The Academy acts as a scientific advisor to the Federal Government of Nigeria, funds research fellowships, and scientific start-up companies. Andrew Jonathan Nok
Andrew Jonathan Nok, NNOM (11 February 1962 – 21 November 2017) was a Nigerian Professor of Biochemistry and the public affairs secretary of the Nigerian Academy of Science. In 2010 he was a recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award (NNOM), in the Science category and in 2013 he won the Alexander Humboldt Prize. He died on 21st November 2017 after a brief illness. Early life Nok was born on 11 February 1962 in Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria. His parents were from Nok village in the Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
