Nigel Hallett
Nigel Charles Hallett (born 6 February 1953) is an Australian politician. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council representing the South West Region from 2005 to 2017. Elected to Parliament in the 2005 state election he was a member of the Liberal Party until 16 June 2016, when he announced he was resigning from the Liberal Party and joining the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, he represented at the 2017 election. He was not re-elected. Hallett completed his early education in Bridgetown but completed high school education at Hampton Senior High School in Perth. He is married to Susan Hallett and they have two sons; Ian and Michael. Western Australian Legislative Council
The Western Australian Legislative Council is the upper house of the Parliament of Western Australia, a state of Australia. It is regarded as a house of review for legislation passed by the Legislative Assembly, the lower house. The two Houses of Parliament sit in Parliament House in the state capital, Perth. Effective on 20 May 2005, for the election of members of the Legislative Council, the State was divided into 6 electoral regions by community of interest —3 metropolitan and 3 rural—each electing 6 members to the Legislative Council.. The 2005 changes continued to maintain the previous malapportionment in favour of rural regions. Legislation was passed in 2021 to abolish these regions and increase the size of the council to 37 seats, all of which will be elected by the state-at-large. Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Corruption And Crime Commission
The Corruption and Crime Commission is an independent anti-corruption agency established on 1 January 2004 to improve the integrity of the Western Australian public sector and investigate allegations of misconduct against public officers. It took over from the Anti-Corruption Commission and has jurisdiction over all State Government departments, instrumentalities and boards as well as universities and local governments. Hampton Senior High School
Hampton Senior High School is an Independent public co-educational high day school, located in the Perth suburb of Morley, Western Australia. History In August 1965, the Department of Education announced that a school would open in Hampton in 1966 to reduce overcrowding at Governor Stirling, Cyril Jackson and John Forrest Senior High Schools. Hampton Senior High School opened in February 1966, but the school had not been completed yet. Two classrooms at Middle Swan Primary School and five at Midland Technical School were used by the school for the first term of 1966. Students were transported by bus to other facilities to do home economics and design and technology. In term two, the school's buildings were complete and so the school moved in. Electoral Region Of South West
The South West Region is a multi-member electoral region of the Western Australian Legislative Council the South West, Peel and part of the Great Southern regions of the state. It was created by the ''Acts Amendment (Electoral Reform) Act 1987'', and became effective on 22 May 1989 with seven members who had been elected at the 1989 state election three months earlier. At the 2008 election, it was reduced to six members. The region includes the cities of Albany, Bunbury and Mandurah. Legislation to abolish the region, along with all other Western Australian Electoral Regions was passed in November 2021, with the 2025 state election to use a single state-wide electorate of 37 members. The Western Australian Legislative Assembly is elected from 59 single-member electoral districts. These districts are often referred to as ''electorates'' or ''seats''. The ''Electoral Distribution Act 1947'' requires regular review of electoral boundaries, in order to keep the relative size of electorates within certain limits. Electoral boundaries are determined by the Western Australian Electoral Commission. 2017 Western Australian State Election
The 2017 Western Australian state election was held on Saturday 11 March 2017 to elect members to the Parliament of Western Australia, including all 59 seats in the Legislative Assembly and all 36 seats in the Legislative Council. The eight-and-a-half-year two-term incumbent Liberal– WA National government, led by Premier Colin Barnett, was defeated in a landslide by the Labor opposition, led by Opposition Leader Mark McGowan. Labor won 41 of the 59 seats in the Legislative Assembly—a 12-seat majority. This was WA Labor's strongest performance in a state election at the time, and formed the largest majority government and seat tally in Western Australian parliamentary history until that point.
