Nigel Chapman (cricketer)
Nigel Chapman (born ) was an English cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who played for Oxfordshire. He was born in Bishop's Stortford. Having represented Essex in the Second XI Championship between 1963 and 1969, and having played Minor Counties Championship matches for Oxfordshire between 1971 and 1974, Chapman made a single List A appearance for the side, during the 1975 Gillette Cup, against Cornwall Cornwall (; kw, Kernow ) is a historic county and ceremonial county in South West England. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. The team is currently a member of the Minor Counties Championship Western Division and plays in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. Bishop's Stortford is a historic market town in Hertfordshire, England, just west of the M11 motorway on the county boundary with Essex, north-east of central London, and by rail from Liverpool Street station.
