Nicolai Wammen
Nicolai Halby Wammen (born 7 February 1971, in Holbæk) is a Danish politician of the Social Democrats who has been serving as Minister for Finance in the government of Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen since 2019. A native and lifelong resident of Denmark's second-largest city, Aarhus, he served as mayor. On the national level, he has served as Minister of European Affairs (2011–2013) and as Minister of Defence (2013–2015). Political career While studying, Wammen became the chairman of the university’s Social Democrat organisation, Frit Forum., and was first elected to the Aarhus City Council in 1998. In the 2001 elections, he was elected to Parliament and served one term. After almost a full term as the party’s shadow finance minister, he pulled out of national politics and was then elected Mayor of Aarhus in 2006. Kirsten Brosbøl
Kirsten Brosbøl (born 14 December 1977 in Odder) is a Danish politician. She represented the Social Democrats in the Folketing from 2005 to 2019, and served as Minister for the Environment from 2014 to 2015. Political career From 2001 to 2004, Brosbøl worked as a student assistant for the Social Democrats in the Folketing, and from 2004 to 2005 she worked as a political consultant for the Danish Social Democrats in the European Parliament. She was first elected into parliament at the 2005 Danish general election with 5,479 votes. She sat in parliament until 2019. From 2014 to 2015 she served as Minister for the Environment. Mai Mercado (born 20 August 1980 in Tønder) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing for the Conservative People's Party. She was elected at the 2011 Danish general election. From 2016 to 2019 she was the Minister for Children and Social Affairs in the Lars Løkke Rasmussen III Cabinet. Political career Mercado was a member of the municipal council of Odense Municipality from 2006 to 2011, and served as the second deputy mayor from 2009 to 2011. General Affairs Council
The General Affairs Council is a configuration of the Council of the European Union and meets once a month. Meetings bring together the Foreign Ministers of the Member States. Ministers responsible for European Affairs also participate depending on the items on agenda. Ministers of several other domains can be present as well, it can be cross-ministries as well. It was created in 2009 by the Treaty of Lisbon by splitting it from the "General Affairs and External Relations Council" with the other part becoming the Foreign Affairs Council. The General and Foreign Councils are the only two Councils mentioned in the EU treaties. 2011 Danish General Election
General elections were held in Denmark on 15 September 2011 to elect the 179 members of the Folketing. Of those 179, 175 members were elected in Denmark, two in the Faroe Islands and two in Greenland. The incumbent centre-right coalition led by Venstre lost power to a centre-left coalition led by the Social Democrats making Helle Thorning-Schmidt the country's first female Prime Minister.
