The Greater Moldova Party ( ro, Partidul Moldova Mare), known before 2020 as the "For the Nation and Country Party" (), is a political party in Moldova. History The party was formed on 5 May 2007 in Ratuș, Criuleni; Tudor Deliu was elected as the president of the party. It was registered at the Ministry of Justice on 17 July 2007. Between this day and 21 January 2009, the official name of the party was Mișcarea social-politică "Pentru Neam și Țară". Teodor Turta is the current president of the party. In 2020, it was renamed from the "For the Nation and Country Party" to the "Greater Moldova Party". The party won 0.28% of the votes at the 2010 parliamentary election, dropping to 0.11% in 2014. Greater Moldova
Greater Moldova or Greater Moldavia ( ro, Moldova Mare; Moldovan Cyrillic: ) is an irredentist concept today used for the credence that the Republic of Moldova should be expanded with lands that used to belong to the Principality of Moldavia or were once inside its political orbit. Historically, it also meant the unification of the lands of the former principality under either Romania or the Soviet Union. Territories cited in such proposals always include Western Moldavia and the whole of Bessarabia, as well as Bukovina and the Hertsa region; some versions also feature parts of Transylvania, while still others include areas of Podolia, or Pokuttia in its entirety. In its most post-Soviet iterations, "Greater Moldova" is associated with a belief that Moldovans are a distinct people from Romanians, and that they inhabit parts of Romania and Ukraine. Tudor Deliu
Tudor Deliu (born 29 October 1955) is a politician, professor, associate professor and lecturer from Moldova. He has been a member of the Parliament of Moldova since 2010 on the lists of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, acting as chairperson of the parliamentary faction of PLDM and secretary of the "Parliamentary Commission, Appointments and Immunities". Currently he is the Chairman of Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova. Professional activity In the period 1990-1994, Deliu was mayor of Răzeni village in Ialoveni District. Parliamentary elections were held in Moldova on 28 November 2010 after parliamentary vote failed to elect a President for the second time in late 2009. Background After the constitutional referendum failed to meet the 33% turnout required to validate the results, the Constitutional Court of Moldova ruled that acting president of Moldova, Mihai Ghimpu had to dissolve the parliament and hold new elections. 2014 Moldovan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Moldova on 30 November 2014. The result was described as "more a loss than a victory" of the incumbent pro-European coalition, with center-right parties divided by sharp tensions. The pro-Russian Party of Socialists (PSRM), composed of former communists, emerged as the largest party in Parliament, gaining 20.51% of votes and winning 25 of the 101 seats.
