Nicolaas Nagelkerke
Nicolaas Jan Dirk "Nico" Nagelkerke (born 1951) is a Dutch biostatistician and epidemiologist. As of 2012, he was a professor of biostatistics at the United Arab Emirates University. He previously taught at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He has now been retired for several years but as of now (January 2023) he is still active in research. In statistics, the logistic model (or logit model) is a statistical model that models the probability of an event taking place by having the log-odds for the event be a linear function (calculus), linear combination of one or more independent variables. In statistics, the coefficient of determination, denoted ''R''2 or ''r''2 and pronounced "R squared", is the proportion of the variation in the dependent variable that is predictable from the independent variable(s). It is a statistic used in the context of statistical models whose main purpose is either the prediction of future outcomes or the testing of hypotheses, on the basis of other related information. It provides a measure of how well observed outcomes are replicated by the model, based on the proportion of total variation of outcomes explained by the model. Pseudo-R-squared
Pseudo-R-squared values are used when the outcome variable is nominal or ordinal such that the coefficient of determination 2 cannot be applied as a measure for goodness of fit and when a likelihood function is used to fit a model. In linear regression, the squared multiple correlation, 2 is used to assess goodness of fit as it represents the proportion of variance in the criterion that is explained by the predictors. In logistic regression analysis, there is no agreed upon analogous measure, but there are several competing measures each with limitations.
