Nicola Barr
Nicola Barr (born 13 June 1996) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL Women's competition. Early life Barr was born in Melbourne but spent most of her early years living outside of Australia. Barr's family settled in Sydney when she was 14. She began playing football while in year ten at Queenwood on Sydney's North Shore. She was selected to play in the AFL youth girls national competition in 2014. Barr played soccer at an elite level as a junior. Amateur career Barr plays state-league football with North Shore in the Sydney Women's AFL (SWAFL). In 2016, Barr won the league's Rising Star award as the best young player in the league. The following season she won the Mostyn Medal as the best and fairest player in the SWAFL. The AFL Tribunal is the disciplinary tribunal of the Australian Football League (AFL), an Australian rules football competition. The Tribunal regulates the conduct of players, umpires, and other officials associated with the AFL and its clubs. Points system Prior to 2005, any player who was reported would face a hearing at the AFL Tribunal. This process had become problematic, and in 2005, a new system (similar to that used by the NRL Judiciary at the time) was adopted. The Greater Western Sydney Giants (officially the Greater Western Sydney Football Club and colloquially known as the GWS Giants or simply GWS) are a professional Australian rules football team based in Sydney Olympic Park which represents the Greater Western Sydney region of New South Wales and Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Drummoyne Oval
Drummoyne Oval is a multi-use sports ground in the Sydney inner-west suburb of Drummoyne, New South Wales. The ground has been used for international women's cricket matches, domestic men's cricket matches and first grade rugby league as well as local Australian rules football and Rugby Union games. The stadium has a capacity of 5,500 people and opened in 1931. Ground Usage Between 1932 and 1934, Balmain played their home games at the ground before moving to Leichhardt Oval. The final first grade game to be played at the ground was in 1950 when Balmain defeated Eastern Suburbs 20–11. Ashleigh Riddell (born 7 March 1996) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the North Melbourne Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. Riddell is a dual AFL Women's All-Australian and won the North Melbourne best and fairest award in 2022. Early life Riddell played junior football in Melbourne's north-east for the Eltham Panthers, crossing to basketball as a teenager due to "a greater long-term pathway". Following the AFL's decision to launch a new women's competition, she returned to football in 2016, playing for Fitzroy in the third division of the now-defunct Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL).
