Nick Perry (British Army Officer)
Major General Nicholas Charles Laybourne Perry, (born 1972) is a British Army officer who served as Assistant Chief of the General Staff between 2021 and 2022. Military career Perry is the son of Richard Laybourne Perry and his wife Susan Margaret Cave-Browne. Educated at Ampleforth College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Perry was commissioned into the Royal Hussars on 12 September 1992. After serving as Chief of Staff for Task Force Helmand in winter 2010, and commanding 22 SAS Regiment in 2012, Perry became military advisor to the Prime Minister in 2015. He went on to be commander of 16 Air Assault Brigade in 2017, and Assistant Chief of the General Staff in March 2021. Lieutenant General Charles Seymour Collins, is a senior British Army officer, who currently serves as Commander Home Command. Military career Collins was commissioned into the Royal Green Jackets in 1995. He was appointed commanding officer of the 5th Battalion of The Rifles in 2012 and was deployed in that role to Afghanistan. Lieutenant General Sir Ralph William Wooddisse, (born 8 January 1970) is a British Army officer who serves as Commander Field Army since April 2021. Early life and education Wooddisse was born on 8 January 1970 in Dhekelia, Cyprus. He was educated at Denstone College, an independent school in Staffordshire, England. He studied at University College London and underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The Special Air Service (SAS) is a special forces unit of the British Army. It was founded as a regiment in 1941 by David Stirling and in 1950, it was reconstituted as a corps. The unit specialises in a number of roles including counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, direct action and covert reconnaissance. Much of the information about the SAS is highly classified, and the unit is not commented on by either the British government or the Ministry of Defence due to the secrecy and sensitivity of its operations.
