Nick Hendry
Conal Nicholson "Nick" Hendry (1887 – 9 April 1949) was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Hendry started his career with North Eastern Railway United, with whom he won the York and District League in the 1905–06 season. He joined Middlesbrough as an amateur in 1907, but failed to make any appearances in the league for the team. 1905–06 In English Football
The 1905–06 season was the 35th season of competitive football in England. Events Following the increase in size of the Football League from 36 clubs to 40, and with Doncaster Rovers having been relegated from the Second Division, four new clubs were elected into the league, along with Stockport County who had won the Lancashire Combination. These new clubs were: Chelsea, Hull City, Leeds City and Clapton Orient. Crystal Palace were formed this year but failed to gain election to the Football League by one vote and instead started their existence in the Southern League. Bristol City, the only non-London League side south of Birmingham at the time, is promoted to the First Division as champions. Midland Football League (1889)
The Midland Football League was a semi-professional football league in England. It acted as a feeder league to the Football League for many years before merging with the Yorkshire League in 1982 to form the Northern Counties East League. History Founded in 1889, only one year after the Football League, the Midland League was the second league for professional clubs to be formed. Eleven clubs participated in the first season, 1889–90, four of whom (including the first champions, Lincoln City) would go on to achieve Football League status. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world.
