Nicholas Bagenal (Welsh MP)
Nicholas Bagenal or Bagenall (1629–1712) was an English MP for Anglesey, Wales. Life Nicholas Bagenal was born in Bath, Somerset, the son of Arthur Bagenal and Magdalene Trevor, daughter of Sir Richard Trevor of Trevalyn, Denbighshire. He was the grandson of Henry Bagenal, Marshal of the Army in Ireland. He owned estates at Plas Newydd in Anglesey and in Newry, County Down. Bagenal was a commissioner of Assessment for Anglesey (1647–1648, 1660–1680), for Caernarvon (1660–1663, 1664–1680), and for Anglesey and Caernarvon (1689–1690). He was elected MP for Anglesey in 1661, and was a Deputy Lieutenant (1661–?1680, 1689–1712) and Custos Rotulorum for Anglesey (1689-1690). He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1664. Edward Bayly
Sir Edward Bayly, 1st Baronet (20 February 1684 – 28 September 1741) was an Irish landowner and politician. Background Bayly was the son of Nicholas Bayly, son of The Right Reverend Lewis Bayly and Anne, daughter of Sir Henry Bagenal. His mother was Dorothy (née Hall). Political career Bayly was elected to the Irish House of Commons for Newry in 1705, a seat he held until 1714. In 1712 he inherited substantial estates in Anglesey, including Plas Newydd, and in Ireland on the death of his cousin Nicholas Bagenall. He was High Sheriff of Anglesey in 1717 and High Sheriff of Down in 1730. In 1730 he was created a Baronet, of Plas Newydd in the County of Anglesey and Mount Bagenall in the County of Down, in the Baronetage of Ireland. Family Bayly married Dorothy, daughter of the Hon. Robert Bruce, 1st Earl Of Ailesbury
Robert Bruce, 1st Earl of Ailesbury (later styled Aylesbury) and 2nd Earl of Elgin, PC, FRS (ca. March 1626 – 20 October 1685), was a Scottish politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1660 to 1663, when he inherited his father's title as Earl of Elgin. Life Robert Bruce was the son of Thomas Bruce, 1st Earl of Elgin by his first wife, Anne Chichester. His portrait, as "Lord Kinloss" at the age of 9 was painted by Cornelius Johnson. He went on a Grand Tour in Europe in the years 1642 to 1646. During his father's lifetime, Lord Bruce, as he was styled, was Member of Parliament for Bedfordshire in the Convention Parliament in 1660 and the Cavalier Parliament in 1661, until he succeeded to his father's titles, becoming the 2nd Earl of Elgin in 1663. Earl of Kilmorey () is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1822 for Francis Needham, 12th Viscount Kilmorey, a General in the British Army and former Member of Parliament for Newry. He was made Viscount Newry and Mourne, in the County of Down, at the same time, also in the Peerage of Ireland. The title of Viscount Kilmorey was created in the Peerage of Ireland in 1625 for Sir Robert Needham, Member of Parliament for Shropshire, and High Sheriff of Shropshire in 1606. His son, the second Viscount, represented Newcastle-under-Lyme in Parliament and supported King Charles I during the Civil War. His younger son, the fourth Viscount (who succeeded his elder half-brother), also fought as a Royalist in the Civil War. It was created in 1815 for Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge, a hero of the Battle of Waterloo, second in command to the Duke of Wellington. Anglesey (; cy, (Ynys) Môn ) is an island off the north-west coast of Wales. Caernarfon
Caernarfon (; ) is a royal town, community and port in Gwynedd, Wales, with a population of 9,852 (with Caeathro). It lies along the A487 road, on the eastern shore of the Menai Strait, opposite the Isle of Anglesey. The city of Bangor is to the north-east, while Snowdonia fringes Caernarfon to the east and south-east.
