Niall Carew
Niall Carew (born 1974) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former Gaelic footballer and hurler. He has been manager of the Carlow county team since 2020. Carew previously managed Waterford and Sligo. Career Born in Staplestown, County Kildare, Carew played Gaelic football for the St Kevin's club and hurling for Coill Dubh. In retirement from playing Carew became involved in team management and coaching. At inter-county level he served as a selector with the senior Kildare county team, before later managing the Waterford and Sligo senior teams. As of 2015, he was managing Ballylinan GAA in south Laois. In August 2020, Carlow announced him as their successor to Turlough O'Brien Turlough O'Brien is a Gaelic football manager. Staplestown
Staplestown () is a village and townland in north County Kildare, Ireland, located 40 kilometres west of Dublin. The village has a church, a school and is home to St Kevin's GAA. The local national (primary) school is Scoil Naomh Mhuire National School. The Roman Catholic church in Staplestown is dedicated to St. Benignus. It was built , and is one of the oldest churches in the Kildare and Leighlin diocese. The church was built to a 'T-plan' and has three galleries. It was extended in the 1970s. An old school, built , is also on the grounds of the church. This was renovated in 2006 and is used as a town hall. A statue of Christ the King stands opposite the church, on the wall of Scoil Naomh Mhuire. There is also a church in Cooleragh, in Staplestown parish, called Christ the King. Dual player or dual star is a term used in Hiberno-English to describe someone who competes in multiple sports — for example, in Victorian Ireland, cricket and hurling. Cathal Corey () is a Gaelic football manager and former player from County Tyrone. He played for the Kildress Wolfe Tones club, though he never played for his county. However, he has managed several clubs throughout Ulster, as well as the Sligo county team. His most noted achievement in club management is leading Naomh Conaill to both the Donegal Senior Football Championship and the final of the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship in 2010. Thomas "Tom" McGlinchey (born 1972) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former dual player of football and hurling. Career Born in Mourneabbey, County Cork, McGlinchey played both Gaelic football and hurling for Clyda Rovers. In retirement from playing McGlinchey became involved in team management and coaching. John Owens (Gaelic Footballer)
John Owens (born 1966) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played as a right wing-back at senior level for the Tipperary and Leitrim county teams. Born in Loughinisland, County Down, Owens first played competitive Gaelic football during his schooling at St Colman's College and Clonmel High School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Leitrim and minor team before later joining the Tipperary minor, under-21 and junior sides. He joined the Tipperary senior panel during the 1985 championship. Owens subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen while he also lined out with the Leitrim senior team. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions Owens never won a Railway Cup medal. At club level he is a five-time championship medallist with Moyle Rovers.
