Nguyễn Thùy Lâm (Her real name is Nguyễn Thùy Trang, born September 10, 1987, in Thái Bình, Vietnam) is a Vietnamese singer, actress and beauty pageant titleholder who the winner of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008 contest on May 31, 2008. Thuy Lam represented Vietnam in the Miss Universe 2008 competition and was the first Vietnamese contestant that made it to the semifinals of Miss Universe. Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, the 1st Miss Universe Vietnam pageant, was held on May 31, 2008, at the Vinpearl Land resort in Nha Trang, Khánh Hoà, Vietnam. 20 contestants competed for the crown. Miss Universe 2008 was the 57th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam on July 14, 2008. This was the first time that the Miss Universe pageant was broadcast in 1080i High-definition. At the end of the event, Riyo Mori of Japan crowned Dayana Mendoza as Miss Universe 2008.
