Ngong Hills Wind Power Station, also Ngong Hills Wind Farm, is a wind-powered power station in Kenya. Location The power station is located in the northern foothills of Ngong Hills, near the town of Ngong, in Kajiado County, approximately , by road, southwest of Nairobi, the capital and largest city in Kenya. Ngong, Kenya
Ngong is a town near the Ngong Hills along the Great Rift Valley within Kajiado County, located in the southwest of Nairobi, in southern Kenya. The word ''"Ngong"'' is a Maasai word derived from the word "enkong'u' meaning "the 'eye' of water" or spring from where Rhinos came to drink water. Therefore, the original name of Ngong was "enchoro e'muny", meaning the spring of the rhinos. The Maasai also refer to a spring as the "eye" of water. Lake Turkana Wind Power Project (LTWP) is a wind farm in Kenya. It is located in Loiyangalani District, in Marsabit County, approximately by road north of Nairobi, Kenya's capital city. The wind farm covers and has a capacity of 310 MW, enough to supply one million homes. It comprises 365 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 850 kilowatts. The associated overhead electric grid distribution system and a high voltage substation that connect it to the national grid. The KSh.70 billion/= wind farm is the single largest private investment in Kenya’s history.
