NewsMuseum
The NewsMuseum is a museum dedicated to news, media and communication located in Sintra, Portugal. Inspired by the Washington’s Newseum ( USA), it was inaugurated in the first minutes of 25 April 2016, in an event attended by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. It occupies the former facilities of the Museu do Brinquedo (Toy Museum) and presents, in a physical but also virtual space, a history of the media and journalism evolution. The Acta Diurna association, which promotes the project and is presided by Luís Paixão Martins, has invested approximately 1.8 million euros in the museum. The project also has the support of Sintra’s city council, which lent the property in the historic center to the association, for 20 years. Luís Paixão Martins
Luís Filipe Paixão Martins (born 1 January 1954, Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese communication and public relations consultant. He founded LPM Comunicação, the first communication consultancy firm in Portugal and current leader in the sector, and created the NewsMuseum. Professional activity Luís Paixão Martins became interested in radio while a student at Liceu Camões in Lisbon. He entered the school’s radio - ERE (''Equipa Radiofónica de Emissão'') - in 1967. In 1971 he started his professional activity as a broadcaster on Radio Renascença. It was there that he became a professional as a radio presenter. In 1975, already as a journalist, he joined ''Jornal Novo'' . In 1976 he moved to news agency ANOP. He returned to radio in 1979 when Rádio Comercial was launched. There he worked as the editor for morning news and information programs. In 1985 he was editor-in-chief at NP Agency (News of Portugal). Sintra
Sintra (, ) is a town and municipality in the Greater Lisbon region of Portugal, located on the Portuguese Riviera. The population of the municipality in 2011 was 377,835, in an area of . Eder (Portuguese Footballer)
Ederzito António Macedo Lopes (born 22 December 1987), commonly known as Eder (), is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward. He signed with Académica in 2008 from the lower leagues, and joined Braga four years later. Over seven seasons, he appeared in 143 Primeira Liga matches and scored 38 goals. He also played in Wales, France, Russia and Saudi Arabia, notably winning the 2017–18 Premier League with Lokomotiv Moscow. Eusébio da Silva Ferreira (; 25 January 1942 – 5 January 2014), nicknamed the "Black Panther", the "Black Pearl" or "O Rei" ("The King"), was a Portuguese footballer who played as a striker. António Ferro
António Joaquim Tavares Ferro (17 August 1895, Lisbon - 11 November 1956, Lisbon) was a Portuguese writer, journalist and politician, associated with the Estado Novo. Biography In 1915, when he was barely 19, his friend, Mário de Sá Carneiro, appointed him as editor of the magazine '' Orpheu'', precisely because he was still a minor. This position did not last long, however, as Sá Carneiro's father withdrew his financial support after only two issues. During the 1920s, he became a reporter for ''O Século'' and the ''Diário de Lisboa'', was briefly Director of the ''Illustração Portugueza'' and served as an international correspondent for ''Diário de Notícias''. Hot Summer Of 1975
The Hot Summer of 1975 ( pt, Verão Quente de 1975) was a tumultuous period in Portuguese history characterized by political, social and military instability. At the center of the conflict was the rift between rightist and leftist groups, as well as the rift among leftist groups themselves. Although tensions can be said to have started after António de Spínola's resignation in the 30th of September of 1974, and ultimately culminated in the failed coup of 25 November 1975, most of the violence and tensions that gave the period its name lasted throughout the eponymous summer of 1975. Álvaro Barreirinhas Cunhal (; 10 November 1913 – 13 June 2005) was a Portuguese communist revolutionary and politician. He was one of the major opponents of the dictatorial regime of the '' Estado Novo''. He served as secretary-general of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) from 1961 to 1992. He was one of the most pro-Soviet of all Western Europe communist leaders, often supporting the Soviet Union's foreign policies, including the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
